RE: Digital photography tutorial
Bob
I was a little quick on the keyboard on the last post.
Camera was a Canon 20D
Most shots were with a Canon 100-400 L IS lens and a few were with the Canon 28-135 IS lens.

Thanks Bob,
I was afraid you were going to say it was that lens. I just got a D50 and I've been looking at lenses. I've been looking at the 80-200 f/2.8 without the VR. Just wondering if the VR is that needed for the outdoor stuff?

RE: Digital photography tutorial
John, I'm struggling to upload some digital photos from my Mac. It seems that every time I try to attach a photo to a reply, I get a message from RCU that "There was an error saving the file to disk". If I can see them on my Mac, shouldn't they upload? Anyone else have this problem and solved it? Thanks, Lee

Mike, yes I am using Safari, but I was beginning to think that I had the pictures oversized. I haven't had time to resize them and retry. Also haven't heard about the Safari problem, so will download FireFox and retry. Thanks, Lee

RE: Digital photography tutorial
Hi,
I am interested in photography, and tried the site for the tutorial, but it does not work.
Is it just down, or has he got rid of it.

I don't know what happened to John's site since he started airworld USA but it helped me to get started. This site was one I found that had some useful info on aviation photography as well as other types. Maybe it can help out.

RE: Digital photography tutorial
Just a quick note for you out there, I'm new to the site, but also a professional freelance photographer, and also do quite a lot in photo-restoration.
I saw in some posts some people were talking about camera RAW ....
I'm a beta tester for Adobe, and they have a open trial for a new RAW processing software called Lightroom, it's geared to the professional photographer, but really there is enough info out on the boards that anyone can use it effectively, it will also really show dramitically the advantages of shooting in RAW format.
The only drawback is there isn't a standard RAW process. So Adobe has has created DNG which you can convert to and hold both the digital negative settings and the Raw format. The bad thing is Raw formats are getting obsolete on some earlier brands.
Anyway its a great program, and it's free for right now to check out and play with.
(PS unfortunatly I don't get here as much as I would like to, so if you leave me a message it may take me awhile to get back to you all)
Have a Great Day and Happy Flying with Great photo's
