Draganflyer to laptop
I contacted RC toys to see if it is possible to connect the eyecam extreme receiver directly to my laptop computer and store the video right to my hard drive since I do not own a camcorder. They said it was possible and that I would need an RCA to USB type of cable.
Have any of you pro's done this yet? If so, can you tell me what you used?
Thanks !

You're going to need more than that. There are special conversion cables with built in hardware inside a capsule but the quality is low. Here is a thread that addresses yours, mine and some others issues with this analog (yuk!) receiver.

Check out the PVRs that are out there now. I bought one from computer geeks a while ago for $75 US. It takes a SD card and will record video.
The one I have is Audiovox 1000.
There are lots of these types of PVR out now so the prices are dropping.
Certainly cheaper than a camcorder and as portable.

Hunter, what is the resolution of the video for that unit? Most PVR/DVR units in that price range max out at 320x240 instead of the 640x480 or 720x480 (DV standard) for the best quality.

SkyHigh,
I have no idea what the res is. It has two mode for recording SP and LP but none of the specs give anymore info. Manual or website.

That is where I bought the unit and anywheres else it is $200 US. I guess that is why they are out at the moment.
I have a vid camera but it doesn't have vid input and with all the other toys I have been buying this was a cheap alternative.
I also bought a camera system from microwireless.net. It is called the video pod. Nice compact and portable system so I can move it to my other RC toys.
I am only using the system for having fun recording and the quality so far seems fine. I haven't used it a lot because I bought it in late fall and finally the weather is starting to be nice enough to fly here.
I put in a 1GIG sd card so I can get lots of recording time. I will post some when I get a good vid.
