Default another newbies battery/charger question.

can i use my futaba charger i use for my hitec battery on my gas bird. it is just the typical ac charger for the tx and rx batteries that come with the flight packs? that is if i get a flight pack for my electric that has a nicad or nimh. probably gws or great planes flight pack. thanks.

Default RE: another newbies battery/charger question.

Short answer - yes, you could use it, but probably only if your flight pack is 8-cells (9.6V).

Longer answer - if you have a 8-cell flight pack of, say, 1000mAh, that wallwort charger only produces ~50mA, so it is going to take at least 20 hours to charge your pack (actually, probably ~ 40% longer (28hrs) to allow for losses during the charging process).

Short solution - buy a Great Planes Triton charger for $120 and it will charge anything you will ever own [NiCd, and NiMh (from 1-24 cells), Pb acid, even Lipoly] at the correct rate [and for NiCd at least, at 2C-3C, so your flight pack can be recharged in the field in 20-30 minutes].

Cheers, Phil
