Batteries America has it listed in the catalog I got yesterday at the WRAMS show in NY. Check their web site: http://www.batteriesamerica.com

I bought mine from www.lightflightrc.com

I like the charger very much, had to wait about 2 weeks for it to come like everyone else does. I hear the new shipments are being sent out now.

Here is a picture to make you drool

I bought mine on-line right from the horses mouth...so to speak.

It was delivered by UPS last week but I haven't tried it yet as I plan to cut off the Astro connectors and use banana plug recepticals.

I bought some banana jack recepticles at Radio Shack and replaced the Astro Flight connector so I can plug in all my various connectors like Dean's Ultra, Dean's 2-pin, and JST. More than likely, my Astro Flight charger will be used on big Lithium packs in my e-conversion models.

Shown here is my Bohemia Models Monocoupe charging a 4s5p Kokam 1500HC pack. I plan to test fly my new floats out on snow today for the first time.

My test flight with the Monocoupe on floats was a great success! Also, my re-charging of the 4s5p Kokam 1500HC LiPo pack was made very easy by my new Astro Flight charger. I love the easy to read messages and single knob for changing the peak current delivery.

I'll start a new thread on the glow conversion forum next week after my photos are developed.

I have now charged many different size Lipo packs on my AF 109 Charger from 3s1p to 8s5p and the product works great!

I check that it picks the correct voltage (or cell count) and then simply dial in my current setting on a real knob. Very nice!

One major flaw this charger has is that it is not manual setup capable. I have tested with 3 separate battery packs ( 8s2p, 8s3p, 9s2p ). It will misread cell count by -1 when the pack has depleted down to 50% or less. You then have to charge individual 3s or 2s packs to bring them to 75% or higher. You need to do that to 4 sets ( for 8s pack ) then make sure they all have equal voltage within 0.02v. Only then you can reassemble and the charger will recognize proper cell count and you can continue charging.

It should normally take 1 hour to charge my battery at the field but it takes 2-3 hours instead due to the stupid charger misreading the cell count.

BTW, the response from Astro is to do exactly as I do above. What the !@$%!@#$%@#$%.

The charger seems to have no problem getting the correct cell count for individual 3s or 2s packs though.
For example, I have 4 set pack of 2s cells. All 4 times it will read 2s then you put them together ( 8s ) and it will read 7s. !@#$%@#$%@#$.

Seems you are a fairly high-end user. I hope you find a solution.

My interest is in a 1C LiPo charge. At 5.2AH, one would need 5.2A to charge 1C. The Triton only puts out about 2.5A which requires about 2.2 hour charge. I'm about to purchase this product to satisfy my need. Interestingly it will be fed by an Astroflight power supply and drive an Astroflight motor. Made in USA makes me even more willing to fork over the greenbacks.

And my good friend Cliff Whitney has them for sale right next door in Atlanta : )

mtexx:

I assume you have 1s2p config with 2 2600mah cells in parallel. In this case, you can ( if not prewired in parallel) charge them in series as 2s at 2.6amps or 2.5 with triton and when you are done ( in little over 1 hr) the process of connecting them back will balance the cells.

You do not need an astro 109.

Actually it is 2 x 3S TP2600 packs which I soldered in parallel. Net 3S 5200mah, 10C Now I see why people use the little parallel and series connector boards. By what you're saying I would reconfigure to 6S1P to charge within the Triton's current limits. I'm not sure of the specs, but the Triton may not be capable of 6S either. Oh well. I'm overseas and can't touch my planes, so I'm buying stuff for them instead

for your 3s2p config, your best bet is to use astro 109 at 5.2amps or get a cheaper polycharge and use 2 of the 4 ouputs and charge as 3s packs at 2.6amps
