Default battery maintenance question?

hello friends, i am new to the forum and to r/c. i got some great help with my blade cx2 on the heli forum, and now have another question. i am presently flying a hobbyzone supercub, a parkzone j3 cub bl, and the cx2. the last two use li-po batteries. how should i store these batteries, charged, or not? is it ok to charge them and not use them (for instance, i charged the j3 batteries last night, in hopes of flying today, but it's freezing outside with a howling wind!). thanks to all who reply, and thanks for sharing what you know to help out a newcommer! rob

LiPoes should be stored in appr 40% charged condition.
Take care not to give them a full charge and then store them in cold environments afterwards.
If you don`t know when you are going to fly next time give them a partial charge, and do the full-charge in the morning when you know you are going to fly (if possible).

Well, actually, it is best for them to have about a 30% charge. If you don't know what the charge is, then you can get a battery checker from Hobby LObby. The call them "gas gaugrs for your lipos": http://www.hobby-lobby.com/cellmeter.htm They look to be pretty handy. If your lipo batteries have a balance plug on them, then you can use this. If you don't, then you just get a volt meter, and measure the voltage. About 11.7 volts should be about 30% of a charge on your 3 cell pack( I think). About 7.5-6 volts for a 2 cell.
