Ok, so my father in law is giving me an art tech p-51D foamie rtf that his son never flew (I fly RC models but it's been a while and I only flew glow). I am really new to electric rtf's although I'm excited as I am hoping to get a few warbird foamies and some EDF's in the future now that I'm gettin' back into RC flying. My question, is about the 11.1v 1300 mah li-poly battery that came with the model. It is all puffy and I know it's dangerous and so I am disposing of it. However, where can I get a replacement (the two places online i found this kit they were all out of stock and couldn't find the battery). I'd prefer to just buy an extra battery from art tech but if I can't then could someone tell me where I can get a replacement that is compatable with this rtf and, more importantly, the esc that's with the plane? I think the plug type might be called a dean's female??? I really have no idea. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

One of the required skills in electric RC flying is soldering. You need to come to grips with the concept of buying batteries with no connectors or the wrong connec tors. I recommend you choose a standard connector (Deans, EC3, Power Pole, something) and then use it for everthing. That will make things easier as you progress with electric flight.
I buy all my batteries from Hobby King in Hong Kong. Their Turnigy batteries are as good as anything I've ever used. Shipping can take a bite so it's best ot save up for a larger order when using Hobby King. Otherwise, I would think it should be pretty easy to find the size battery you need or one that is close enough and your choice of connectors almost anywhere. You just need to free yourself from the connector compatibility issue. Happy flying.
