Hello all!
So I have flown my blade mcx for a long time now and it has gotten boring. I am looking for the next step or several nest step to get me into a 400-450 eventually. I am hoping to get a DX6i for christmas but that is uncertain at the time. Space wise I have a medium sized gym on campus along with 2 Big outdoor fields, and a dorm basement. would like to be able to fly in my room but not necessary. My buget is that I can not go over $200... yes i know it sucks but that is what I have to work with. I would like your Comments, Experience, and knowledge on the steps to becoming a good 3d flyer. Are used helicopters ok to buy? What models? etc.
Thanks,
Lild506

I am been reading the forums and I was going to go with Blade 120sr. I have been reading if I want to graduate to the Blade 450, I should get the Blade MCPX and practice with that instead. I am just so confused on what to do. I just know I want to Fly a Blade 450 someday.

Yeah I am stressing about it way to much. I think I am going to get the 120sr BNF with the DX6I and get the phoenix simulator. You can use the dx6i with sim and the phoenix sim has all the blade helis including the blade 450 3d.

Thats what i sort of what I want to do but people are telling me that fp helis are just a waste of time because you will just have to relearn for cp. We are in-between a rock in a hard place

Haha. I have been told the same stuff. I started this thread on helifreak and now I am real confused by what all the people said. I will have to post it in the morning. Don't know how to copy the link on my phone.

If i were in your boat i would just hop on the RTR blade 450. FP helies are going to waist your time. Yeah, your gonna get to know how to go forward backwards... ect but. You will soon find out right when you get into CP, everything is much different. All of the controls are much more touchy. Just save your money and buy the RTR blade 450 with the DX6i it will save you money in the long run.

I cant go that big until I am out of boarding school. I have the space but 80% of the time it is snowing outside. So to learn cp I go with the mcpx then once mastered B400 or B450, but that isn't for a while. Is this the general consensus?

UHHH, sorry, but having fun is far from a waste of time. And one would have a heck of a hard time not having fun flying an MSRor a 120SR. And your statement about the CPbeing much more touchy is only partially true, it CANbe more touchy is what you should say. For instance, my MSRif FARmore touchy than my B400 the way Ihave the controls setup in the radio. negative expo on the MSRversus positive expo on the 400, 90% throws on the 400 and 100%throws on the MSR.
Ihave fun flying them both, the 400 is more stressful for me to fly, the MSRis just plain FUN!

You should be fine with a cp helicopter; i never thought the beginner helis were particularly useful. That said, the only cp helicopter within your range seems to be the mcpx or the blade SR. mcpx>blade Sr
If you are good with tinkering with stuff and you have time, you can consider building a trex 450 clone. Thats what I did and it's a fine platform to learn 3D on. But it will a little bit over your allotted budget.

I still have time to figure all this out as to what I am wanting to get. It will probably be around Christmas time before I get what I want anyways. Here is that thread from helifreak where most people said to get the mcpx instead of the 120 sr. Ampdraw.com has the Blade 450 3D RTF for $373.. That sounds like such a good deal.

Something to consider once you get your DX6I radios is that you can buy bind and fly Blade 400 for pretty good deals right now. They are going for like $150 on Ebay with batteries which is cheap for what you get if you ask me.

Yea, Just got to wait for the dx6i but what would be a good stepping stone to the blade 400. Some people say collective pitch is to big of a step, so they are saying msr or 120 sr, or some people say get the mcpx or walkera. So i basicaly have to decisions to make... 1: cp or fp and 2: which heli in that category. If you wouldn't mind voting?

I am thinking I am going to go with the mcpx and the dx6i. Most of the people at helifreak said that would be the way to go since it is CP too instead of jumping to the 450. I plan on getting the sim too before I get the 450.

I think I am leaning in that direction. Just have to weigh the pros and cons of the genius cp over the mcpx see which one is better for me

I should have been more clear. IMHO, mia parts are really expensive and they seem to add additional and unnecessary weight.
The with the tail boom extention, you basically buy a 2mm cf rod and you cut out a 6in piece. Then you mount the tail rotor onto it and then its good.
