Default Questions

Hello all. Haven't posted here in a while. I hope all is well with you and yours.

I currently have a Blade Cx3 which i fly daily and i love. Mostly stock only upgrades are the bigger 30c eflight lipo, a carbon tail boom/canopy, and the unbreakable skids. I am looking to get into upgrading it a little as i would like to fly it outdoors more and make it a little more durable regardless. Am i correct to assume that brushless motors will provide me with enough power to do so? Will they also provide me with enough power to upgrade both the swashplate and lower rotor heads to aluminum? Over the years between both my cx2 and 3 i have replaced a few of these each. Being worried that it would change the way it performed i always stuck with plastic but would like to make the heli more durable as i am now teaching my 10 year old son to fly it.

Why was this heli discontinued by eflight? Does anyone still fly these?

Also, When i used to post here the blade cx/2/3 were hot topics and now it seems as though not many people fly them anymore. I know that many people have upgraded but i haven't felt the need to challenge myself until now.

So i am looking into purchasing a Fp heli and i think i have narrowed my choices down to the following two. My budget is almost non existent for toys anymore so i need to keep the total cost below $200. Please advise your opinion on the heli itself, costs associated with parts and/or necessary upgrades, current and future parts availability, and overall brand quality. I like the mid size helis as i have ample room indoors to fly them.

The first is the Blade Sr: http://www.bladehelis.com/Products/R...500#quickMedia

The second is the Walkera V200d02: http://www.xheli.com/walkeraheli-v20...lcd-2402d.html

Please feel free to offer any suggestions regarding other heli comparable in size, quality, and performance.

I would truly appreciate any feedback you could offer.

Thanks ahead.

Thank you!!!! No...i wasn't aware. I believe i assumed it was FP due to he lower price. Now to decide if i should just man up and go CP or baby step through a FP.

Thanks again for bringing that to my attention.

I never owned a FP heli personaly

My first heli ever was a [link=http://www.ttamerica.com/helis/ttre0001.html]Mini Titan[/link] I got the kit and built it from the ground up apposed to the ARF Kit (Almost Ready To Fly)

Then the second heli i ever built was a [link=http://www.tiger.com.tw/product/4853-K.html]Raptor 50 Titan[/link]

I still fly both of these heli's, I'm not sure what my next kit will be yet probaly a [link=http://www.heliproz.com/KX018E12-T-Rex-700E-V2-3GX-Flybarless-Helicopter-Super-Combo/productinfo/KX018E12/]Trek 700[/link] or a [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_382_718/products_id/240203/n/SAB-Goblin-700-Flybarless-Electric-Helicopter-Kit-Red]Goblin 700[/link]

I Guess time will tell

Wow, an old CX2 and CX3...that was around 2007-2009ish right?

Well stinknugget, Horizon has made leaps and bounds since those days and has come out with some very nice stuff since, they have moved to smaller FP and CP heli's (with the exception of the 500X ) and made the transition to flybarless controllers which makes life so much simpler. You will be amazed at the amount of stuff they have stuffed into the tiny frame of the mcpx for instance and have it perform so nice.

Do you have a transmitter? Most of their stuff will come either BNF (cheaper b/c you supply the tx) or RTF (a bit more expensive since they provide something of a tx).

A FP model that Horizon offers that you may want to look at is the [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/msr-x-rtf-BLH3200]Blade mSR X[/link]. It is their version of a FP FBL microheli and is under your $200 limit. I've never flown FP heli's so can't give you any personal opinion except I went from my old CX2 to a collective pitch heli.

For me, I would skip the FP and go straight to the CP. Will be more of a challenge in the beginning but in the long run you'll have more fun. Get a model that is flybarless - will help you tremendously. And sim a lot in the beginning. Plus, these small birds are tough and parts are abundant. They are either close to or a bit over your $200 limit (the [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/nano-cp-x-rtf-BLH3300]Nano CP X RTF[/link] $189 and [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-mcp-x-v2-rtf-BLH3600]mcpx V2[/link]$219).

BTW, the CX2 is still around: [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-cx2-rtf-electric-coaxial-micro-helicopter-EFLH1250]Horizon[/link]

Have fun!

Mark
