I have been having an extreamly random glitch even at close range. So I am going to try and change chans and see if maybe it was interferance. I am planing to go from chan 17 to chan 35....do you think this will help anything? Also am I correct in assuming since the rx came with a low band crystal I should only go up to chan 35?....I have a couple chan 42 crystals laying around I could try otherwise.
Anyways as far as the crystal I need a single con or dual con. crystal? What is the diffrence from fm and am? I already know what crystal I need for my transmiter since it is diffrent from stock. Thank you for any info you can give.

I searched this forum before posting and could not find any anwsers but I did some more search on google and found the anwsers. Looks like I need an FM single conversion futaba crystal. But I have a couple questions now:
1) if I just change the crystal in the reciver would this maybe fix my random glitch? I read that diffrent manufactures have diffrent crystals even though they are the same frequency. I wonder if this is causing my problem using the stock eflite crystal with a futaba transmiter and futaba crystal....so would changing to a futaba crystal maybe solve this?
2) would it be better to just change the chan on the reciver and tx? Is this more likely to solve my problem?
3) I know it is ilegall to change the tx crystal, and I certainly don't want to cause any radio interferance. What are the odds of my transmiter be giving off interferance after this change?
3) Is there any way to tell if it is a failty crystal or radio interferance? It is a very random glitch, happens at distances as close as 5 feet.
Thanks again

To help find where the interference is coming from load the RC frequencies into a scanner. Then scan for the channels that are in use (or where you hear something on them) scan for a while (at least a few hours) as some transmitters may come on for a few seconds then be off for minutes or more in between. A good way to do this is let it scan and ever time you hear something remove that channel in the end what you have left over ar the ones that should be clear.
I would then pick one that is clear and away from the busy channels.
ie if you hear something on ch 17 and 32 pick ch 24 or 25 to use.
This still may not cure you 100% due to inter-mod as mixing happens in your RX from two different sources:
Examples:
CBer running on 27 MHz and the Fire Dept on 45 MHz
FM radio station on 99 MHz and your CBer on 27 MHz (I think this is my source of interference here)
Radio station on 90 MHZ and the Weather station on 162 MHz.
The TX crystal should come from your TX manufacturer (If you have a Futaba TX use a Futaba crystal), on the RX you should use do the same (E-Flite RX us and E-Flite Crystal) all the crystal does is to tune set the frequency.
I wound up going with the Spektrum DX6 to getaway from the interference (The Spektrum runs on 2.4 GHz).
If you decide to go the Spektrum route you may want to hold off as they have a New DX7 coming out that looks pretty good.
