Brand new to this site and RC helis. Purchased a CX2 a couple of days ago and have crashed it several times already needs new blade with about 45 min fly time on it. The problem I'm having is today I was flying it the batteries got low and i took it in to charge the battery when I was removing the battery I could smell something burning. I took the front bodt section off and the two motors were so hot I couldn't even touch them. I let it cool and put another battery in it the right motor wouldn't engage and a small amount of smoke came from the 4 in 1 unit so I'm sure its shot. Is it possible that the 4 in 1 unit got damaged in a crash and caused the motors to overheat? Also should I replace the 4 in 1 and the motors? Thanks for any advice.

The motors are most likely fine. If the blades are not moving during a crash and there is power applied to them it can destory the 4 in 1 unit. The best thing to do in a crash is to power the throttle down as soon as possible and you will not damage the unit.

motors should be fine.
They should not be getting that hot though.
allow cool down times between flights and you may want to use the heatsink and vent the canopy like I did.

Thanks for the advice. I plan to replace the 4 in 1 control unit tomorrow. Motors are only 9.99 each so I will buy them just in case. If I don't need them I can always return or keep for future. Also will vent the canopy and see if this helps with the overheating problem. Was reading where somebody took the board out of the 4 in 1 unit and taped it to hold in place may try this also as the 4 in 1 felt a little warm b4 i seen the smoke come from it. All of these problems are probaly just from my inexperience with rc helis. Oh well live and learn I will get it back together.

Hey Bill......jus a thought but if u'r thinking of purschasing the motors for the CX.....trying using the VORTEX motors instead.....they're way cheaper, $9 for the pair and they're air-cooled.....they're also suppose to be slightly more quiet and have more power......let us know wat you decide.

Thanks for the advice but I already purchased the new motors 16.00 for the pr. Having problem locating the 4 in 1 control unit and blades. All the local shops are sold out of blades and the control units are on backorder not due until 1/20/07. Will try looking online later this eve.
