Blade CP Pro - Tail Boom Removal
Does any one have a smooth process for removing a busted up tailboom on the CP Pro and installing a new one. I just can't seem to get it out of the frame. Also I need to re solder the tailmotor.
Thanks for any help,
MD

RE: Blade CP Pro - Tail Boom Removal
I've seen tips on this topic in the past, so I expect that you'll get some info on this. If not, you may want to try heating the body with a heat gun or hair dryer (set on low heat) a bit and see if that helps. You may need to use an easy out (or a sheet metal, wood screw, etc) in order to grip the boom, if it is broken off flush with the body. I would, however, wait and see what the other, more experienced, members suggest before you try this.

RE: Blade CP Pro - Tail Boom Removal
I have had 50/50 success on boom removal. I heat up a blow dryer and got 2 booms out that way but another 2 other booms I could not heat off. It does work but I was very leary that it would work after my first tail boom would not come out. If you have a heat gun better for you. Heli007

RE: Blade CP Pro - Tail Boom Removal
I just had the exact same problem and did it just two nights ago. Only I just replaced the main chassis and the tail boom at the same time because I absolutely couldn't get the tail boom out. So, I just did the whole thing...only took about 2 hours to move everything from one chassis to the other. I haven't test flown the beast yet though, hopefully she'll fly the same. I'm wondering if I might have installed the tip on the boom that holds the rear motor and such exactly straight though??

Well...it did look pretty close, but it's hard to tell how exact it is when your installing it and trying to put a little CA glue on it at the same time to hold it in place. I'm really going to be upset if it fly's funky because it's not close enough. I'll never get that end piece off the boom without ruining it again so I'm hoping that it's going to be okay.

I noticed some ca remover in the glue section of the lhs. Might be worth a try on some of the hard to remove ones. I guess it all depends on what they were glued with in the first place.

RE: Blade CP Pro - Tail Boom Removal
yeah, ca debonders only works on porous materials bonded with ca. on our plastic/cf joints, the debonder will only dissolve 10% of the ca that's on the outside, unless perhaps you soak it in debonder for a week.
i would be very careful with heat, since there's a ton of plastic there to deform, and as was mentioned, ca doesn't really soften with heat. i usually just replace the frame assemble and be done with it, but if i had to i'd probably cut the boom flush to the frame and drill the rest out.
good luck,
kev
