Default Blade CP Pro

Hey, I am newer to the heli world and own a 100% modified Blade CX2 the only thing stock on it is the servos! And I recently bought a Blade CP Pro wow big difference. I crashed it and was wondering if anyone knows about an upgraded tail boom? that will work without it being belt drive. Thanks for the help

Here's the deal, you can go buy an upgrade that will be gone in 3-5 days or you can save your money for parts, guaranteed you'll need em. Once you get forward flight and left/right down and you do nose in without buying parts, then upgrade to your hearts content. I did the same thing with my CX. I am right where you are, I think. Learn the stock parts. Once you get good, upgrade to a better heli.

This guy will teach you everything you need to know to fly the better birds. Don't upgrade the CP like you did the CX. The parts will just go quick. Keep Stock, then move up to a T-rex or something. I've spent about $300 dollars on just a CP, all it got me was Lipo, better skids, and dual tail rotors. Now I'm battling weight issues (the copter not me, ok me too) I've also spent about $100 on replacements. All in all I'd be in a cheap T-rex if I just waited by now.

Go to Local Hobby Shop (LHS) and just get the standard tail boom for the CP. There aren't many 3.99 blade repair fixes when you mess up with the CP, it usually ends up being 45-50 minimum.

So true DrunkYoda, I bought a CP Pro a few weeks ago and I have gone through three sets of blades, a fly bar, a tail rotor and a shear pin. This I consider not bad as i have had lots of close calls and tape the blades up until I cannot use them at all. I upgraded to the superskids and they look great and help lower the center of gravity getting a more stable hover but costing in flight time. I put on the extra counter weights and tried the flat blades but I find the stock syms work better for me. I can see now why the advice is to upgrade later as you will indeed need parts while learning and time while you decide if you will keep pouring money into this hobby. Even if I bought a trex to learn on the price would be high in repair, its the way it is, with helicopter, extra battery, wall charger, pitch gauge, training gear, upgrades and spare parts I'm into the CP Pro for $600 and I need blades again. Now I'm not saying its not fun hobby, as I learn it gets better, going through a battery or two without wiping out is a great feeling and going forward and back and doing stable hovers makes it all worthwhile. I pour through the forums for advice, practice on a sim and tried to follow radds method to catch on faster but I still find this harder than flying my electric planes. The most important thing I can tell you is that after a blade strike and you get a vibration take your time and go through all the checks in the trouble shooting guide on the bladecprepair site it makes all the difference. I also trimmed off 3/16 " off both sides of my tail rotor and have way less tail strikes as there is way more clearance. You just need to turn up the proportional pot a bit to compensate. Yeah I was just saying T-rex bc it flies better, not that you would not have the same or more costs associated with it. I have another recommendation. If you have all kinds of money and want to throw it away get another CP or CP Pro off of ebay, that way you can always have a bird in the air, no down time. You might find it interesting how different they are to each other without the "special" features. You will also learn to fly much betterer .

I went CX to CP fairly easily, I did skim through Radd. I've only crashed twice in about a months time. I broke the skids and upgraded to Superskid, which btw is a great deal. Totally agree with you there. I also broke a spindle/set of blades.

If you want a parts list you can find em on here.

I recommend: (all parts approximate, or what I remember paying)

2-3 tail motor spares $6-10 each usually
crash kit *flybar/blades/skids/tailblade - about 15-20
Superskids - $30 from Superskids
spindle - $4
Main gear/shaft - $8
Maybe a main motor, but I've never had an isssue with mine. -$10
Total of about - $100

Optional:
Car fuses - get the super small ones 3amp for tail wires, 7.5 for main motor wires (find Scott@msn, the sarge he's got some good docs
Dual Tail rotor - about $20 for tail piece and you'll need 2 tails motors plus some red/black wire
Powerzone board (only for CP not for Pro) - $30-40 will allow you to run a brushless motor off of your black motor wire you use now.
Castle creations 10 - ESC for brushless motor - $50
A decent brushless motor (look on these forums for model) (my next upgrade) You will need this if you are going to add all these parts to your bird weight-wise - $50
Spektrum DX6 (199 with rec/serv etc) or DX7 ($400??)

As you can see you can rig up the CP/CP Pro pretty good too, just like the CX. If you have money you can get a pretty good system, but then again you can get the trex for about 300-400 with a decent transmitter (why I listed in the optional area above, plus all you need for the blade is a receiver and you can use same transmitter) Just remember you break the upgrade parts you buy em, not me.
