Well, I bought the CX2 version 2 a few weeks ago and it flew great out of the box. I flew about 10 feet from the ground full forward and pulled back and the blades clacked and down went the bird. Broke a the lower head and both upper and lower blades. Bought some new parts and tried to fly, but the bird kept nosing clockwise. I tried to fix it via trim and also adjusted the gain and proportional (ccw), but no luck. Disassembled the thing and reassembled just to make sure there was no binding, same thing. I thought it was the motor, so I ordered the xtreme motors from Jamie @ boomtownhobbies and installed them same thing, ***! Called tech support at Horizon Hobbies and they told me to send it in, so I removed the xtreme motors and installed the stock motors and shipped the bird back. They said it would take 5 days after they received it til they get to mine
OK, so a few days goes by and I'm bored so I convinced my boss to buy one (version 2) and he did. Out of the box flew great until my boss got to close to the wall and down goes the bird. OK, replaced the upper and lower blades and what do you know, damn thing starts nosing to the right. Same thing mine was doing. This time I blinged his bird out, new inner/outter shafts, aluminum lower head, bearing cup and swash plate. All to assemble it and find out nothing helped. I even used a piece of paper to set the clearence to make sure it's not binding. Installed the xtreme motors and same thing.
Now I'm convienced it has to do with the 3 in 1. So off to the local hobby shop and purchased the older cx2 4 in 1. Replaced the 3 in 1 with the 4 in 1 with NOTHING changed and viola the bird flies perfect. I even adjusted the gain and proportional perfect so now the trim is pretty much centered and he can trim it either left or right
Here's some videos of the 3 in 1 and after installing the 4 in 1.

Sorry the 3 in 1 video is bad and thanks for listening.

P.S. I'll be waiting to hear back from Horizon Hobby to see what the deal was with mine.

It will be interesting to see what Horizon Hobby has to say about that ! Faulty 3 in 1's maybe ? I guess sometimes newer isn't better eh ?! My CX2 has the older 4 in 1 and have had no problems so far...Hmmmm....Will be interesting to see if other people down the road will have problems... Jeff

since i now have both the 2.4ghz spectrum 3-in-1 cx2, and an old 72mhz 4-in-1 cx, i can totally say my 3-in-1 cx2 had a right-yaw-bias out of the box - dunno if its the spectrum or the 'out of the box' cnc upper shaft top, though - i suspect spectrum/3-in-1 interface issues or perhaps spectrum controller issues - the 4-in-1 72mhz is rock solid except for the odd twitch now and then and that is expected with 72 mhz

Was it turning violently; or just annoyingly; if violently, then just switch motor connectors. It's real easy to reverse the connectors and have the shafts turning the same direction.
I'm just shooting at the hip and stating the obvious, for the lack of information. Clockwise, I think is what made Me think of that, as that is exactly what I did when shortening the wires on the motors to get them out of the way for better ventilation.
Even fused; maybe 1 of the MOSFETS burned out if You didn't get it shut down quick enough.
I personally am going to jump at the chance of upgrading mine to the 3 in 1.

Just annoyingly to where I couldn't stop it from either triming or adjusting the pots.
Well after the crash I got two new 180 extreme motors from Jamie at boomtownhobbies.com.
Let me know how it works out when you switch over.
Thanks,
Jody J.

How easy is it to replace the mofsets?
How easy is it to replace the mofsets?
pretty easy if you have PCB soldering skillz =P
If the FET's are fused properly (3 to 4 amps) then they wont blow.
