Default Battery Tray Lite

Here's the battery tray that I am using. I am running the Boomtown skids, a piece of velcro and what's left of the tray - basically just the end stop so I get the battery located correctly.
The battery has a small velcro patch on it and the strap is a very lightweight weight velcro wrap that sticks back on itself. very secure. Anyhow, what you see is 10.2 grams.

its a shame that the cx-2 has such issues with weight, or at least everyone makes it seem so. ive gotten rid of mine but would like to get another one, mainly because the cp+ is more than i expected. the cx-2 is nice for its ease of flight. im still working on some ideas for your clipped blades theory. when i get my next cx-2 ill put it into some die hard testing to see what results i can get from it. also wondering if it would be possible to convert it into a single rotor heli with a tail prop? gonna try that one too someday. later, chris

Solo: Looks good..! I to have mine "chopped"..Lol..Using a variety of packs, I like the convenience of "plug and play" in just snappin' the battery in and fly....I ran without the battery tray "rails" with only the two pads where the screws attach for a couple weeks, and found it created excess vibration, (structure) so now I use something similiar with industrial strength velcro, and even with the weight of a 3-Cell it has never failed...Someday I might try an aluminum one and cutting it similiar to my plastic one to get the weight down, but yet creating a good structural fit with less flex...I'am thinking it would be like sway bars and strut bars in a car, keeping it "tight"... But then were to the weight issue again, but a new one is only 6.6 grams...Hmmmmm....I'll butcher it and get it to what? Use my 3g chopped skids, and ?? ..Lol..But who knows, my mind is always wandering around like a lost puppy...Lol.. Take care ol' man... Jeff.

Looks Good Solo,

I've already emulated JMichael's mod because . . . Well, I just wanted to. What I noticed right away after cutting off the battery stop, and some of the bottom front canopy (like I always do for ventilation) was how easy it is to tuck the wires away, and really cleans up the heli.

I'm gonna take a jewelers saw and cut the heatsink (that I already ripped out of the heli) and narrow it by 2/3. Jeff mentioned liking the way it spaces and supports the motors, but We hate the weight.

CRAZYCHRIS. . . It's not that the cx-2 has much of a weight issue; that is, until You slap on all the aluminum aftermarket stuff that seems to bog it down a bit. We are doing crazy stuff to our heli, to the point, that We formed a weight watcher's club to compensate for things like Cameras, rocket platforms. . . and Some are just looking for High performance. To each Their own.

watch that velcro across the top of the tray catching the spinning gear whirling directly above it - especially when descending rapidly (or inverted lol)

i modded the mod to be wrapped around the batt tray 'rails' instead of going all the way across

somebody make a cx weight watcher's club sticky thread! - i need all the help i can get totin the camera

i now use front and back velcro squares over the (empty) screw holes plus the strap - ever since i had the battery fall out and the bird weave crazy from the weight swinging under it - cx is not a pretty pendulum - also put some sticky stuff into the holes where the screws went as th whole thing fell out one time (that time the batt just disconnected itself and it didn't keep on flying) - the boom mod removed the body supporting the batt tray

Cx2cp...Yeah or even just use a small rubber-band that wraps behind the posts, so it clears the gears...It's lighter, and will still be a good second back-up...I stopped using the band, as even in a crash, the batt never went anywhere..The stronger velcro, puts the other stuff to shame. It takes some good pulling just to get the batt out. I to used a little loc-tite for the small screws for back-up, and ca glue as a bonus to the velcro sticky also....
