Default CP+. IS THERE A TITANIUM SHAFT?

ok so at this point im gonna stomp on my cp+ and count my losses. this thing is really cheaply made in my opinion. the blades barely touched the ground when i set it down and the friggin rotor shaft bent. any chance there is a titanium shaft for it or something that isnt made by eflite that is designed to break? im not trying to sound like a b@*&h or anything but come on, this just doesnt even seem right to me. its almost like there hoping things will break so they can further rob you on there half-assed replacement parts. so once again if anyone could leave a link to a place that sells high quality non factory shaft, or even other replacement parts please post a thread, otherwise i'll sell this thing and get a cx-2 again. thanks, chris

totally agree on you on the quality of this parts...they really BARELY enough to let you fly and just so easy to break

and does not make sense to be using the same poor quality OEM repalcements for the prices that they are charging

thats why theres a growing list of thriving business of aftermarket parts just because of this. stock=junk....sorry to say but its really true..

anyway i thougt i've saw a stainless steel ground and hardened shafts at helihobby.com
if not check out microhelis website i think they have them too!

not so sure but just search it out if my memory serves me i saw something for the CP. good luck!

I've talked to numerous people at LHS online, and they say the HONEYBEE FP is built like a tank; parts are really cheap, and they are a very stable platform; very good for learning. I even had one recommend it and He doesn't even carry it ! !

I'm not trying to pour salt into Your wound, but I'm sure You could unload it here, take the small loss and try it; or put it away, purchase another one more suitable, then come back when You are better.

go ahead and stomp it, i'll buy the remaining good parts for 5 bucks! - done that twice now - i'm gonna fly this beyatch if it kills me (which it probably will, or bankrupt me first then kill me)

my nemesis is the #$%@&^*! feathering shaft (aka collective shaft, yes the 'rotor shaft' you are speaking of)) - made of lead (or soft gold considering the price) if you ask me, and the thing is drilled out and threaded to make it even more bendable

i cut, drilled and tapped a drill bit - worked like a charm until it broke the plastic shaft holder

i am making a spring steel flybar (need more paddles - the originals are now on the fp on a metal flybar made from a cx flybar)

i am using superskids cause i sheared off the whole underside of the cp+ on the truck tailgate

i can hover, but forward flight eludes me still

wind is the enemy and trim trim trim is the only way to any success

once you crash you have to stop and rebuild the whole bird

the bird is so tail heavy that the battery has to be mounted almost under the 4-in-1

the walkera 4 fixed pitch is a better bird

supposedly the cp is conquerable, and i am making slow but sure progress

Yeah they got em'....And also the better gears to...As the stockers tend to be not-true, and gives wobble usually....Go figure....Job security is what I call it.....They watch ya leave with the product, then whisper to each other........."He'll be back"..........(Parts)

walkera #4 (i got mine from our buddy ushobbysupply) is better than the honeybee fixed pitch version 4 (004) - the tail is the same as the cp on the hbfpv4 and it is just as tail heavy - batt must be way forward mounted - not a very good condition for stability

once you can fly the walkera #4 fp then you can work up to the cp but it is not the same animal so there is still a big difference, mainly in the blade weight making the cp top-heavy

what could i trade this P.O.S. cp+ for? id rather get something that isnt designed to break, as well as breaking your wallet, ive seen kyle stacy dlying one of these but for a rookie cp flyier like me this thing is just a headache. look for it on the classifieds, cause shes out the window! chris

Micro heli carries a stainless shaft that helped tremendously with the bent shaft. Get that with the autorotation gear and you can be set. Then if the shaft does bend (takes good effort) then you just get a new shaft (no gear purchase needed). Then again, you may get caught in the upgrade/upgrade and parts problem. If this is the main problem for you, then I would do it. If you have many other problems, cut your losses and move over to the HBKII. Belt drive tail, much sturdier and most of your time will be spent flying instead of repairing and cussing. I lived the CP Pro and it is what got me started. Learned alot from flying it and don't regret anything except for chasing too many upgrades and not moving on to another bird sooner. Could have had a complete HBKII and a bare bones kit and more for all the upgrades to the CP Pro.

Read the forums for your own decision - lots of good info. I have not heard too many good things about the Walkera (but I may be wrong also). On the HBKII, the only mods necessary -IMO - would be to go brushelss and put on the T-Rex skids. Other than that it is all optional and it flies great with just those mods. If you buy the whole kit, I have read the radio is good enough to work with a s well. Nothing like a DX7 or similar though for bringing out the real helicopter.

Remember, these are just my opinions. Read the forums and you will find a common thread among them all to give you the overall picture. Best thing is to find one you can enjoy so you stay in the hobby.

Here's my opinion and only my opinion. Let's not cut the CPP to the ground, as a piece of fraigle crap. The only mod's I did to a CPP I acquired is, an CNC head and twin tail motors. I've made roughly 90 flights without a plastic part snaping, also never crashed it, never once. If the CPP is crashed a few times, your wallet may get broken quickley. The CPP is made to fly, not to crash.

If a person has to look around buying all the titanium parts and whatever else they can find, perhaps the CPP is not for them. I heard of dudes crashing the CPP on the 1st flight, fixing it and crashing it on the 2nd flight, fixing it and crashing it on the 3rd flight and so on... don't add yourself to that list. Most think the CPP is a good 2nd heli, I disagree, unless you have abnormal talent. It can be a good 2nd heli, but only if you have abnormal talent, like I stated before.

To answer your question, I don't know if there is a titanium shaft, but if I had to go looking for a titanium shaft, I would probably be looking for a different heli. Maintenance is an important key to prevent a CPP from falling from the sky unexpectdly. Most don't fix anything, until something breaks, I'm not 1 of those people. Not trying to degrade anybody, just trying to shine some light.

Goodluck!!,

Corey

talk to vec over on bladecprepair.com he used a steel shaft out of a cd rom drive, and he's wrecked his heli so bad that it's been a complete rebuild, but no bent main shaft =) He's also got a ton of other mods that make the heli so it can take a good crash dust off and get flying again.

btw I didn't read all of this, so sorry if my post doesn't exactly answer what you are looking for

Here's a link for different diameters for titanium rod. I see one that should work in a cx-2 ! the .0787

I'm all over it, Jeff!

It appears that the stock is 1.98mm and their tubing is 2mm exactly. But it isn't expensive; I could sand it, I suppose if it is. Wish I had a mini lathe.
