your cp pro should have a receiver and a 3 in 1. Yes you can hook up any standard gyro, just use the instructions in the eflite manual, it's all gona be the same.

I was looking at getting a CP Pro on ebay and some copters come with the gyro. Is it worth it to pay a little extra for the gyro? What does it do exactly?

almost all heli's have a gyro, but some come with seperate gyro's and HH gyro's. Basically a HH gyro holds your tail in one spot, and a rate gyro dampens the movement of the tail. That's so that humans with slower reflexes than a gnat can actually fly the heli =)

So the CP comes with a Rate gyro? Seems like it offers more control.

yeah, the cp comes with the rate gyro. Most HH gyros can also be used as a rate gyro. basically a rate gyro will teach to to fly the tail and because of that reason impo is the way to learn , and the go to the HH tail for stunts if/when you get to that point =)
