I just recieved a used cx today. It flys great but it turns/spins left and right (yaw) very slowly. It also make a loud screeching sound and slightly twitches its tail every now and then. It hovers great and flys for about 8 mins.
I've replaced the motors, gears, shafts, bearing, blades and have fine tunned the swash plate/ trimmed/ gearmesh/ balanced.
Now my CX2 can spin like crazy both ways shouldn't this do the same.
I think its the 4-1. Any thoughts or Ideas?

does a new one spin like that? - guess i still don't understand the point of spinning - it is intentional yaw you are speaking of, right? - i'd be more interested in fast forward flight (fff) and pulling banked 90's without clack

Its a gift for my brother inlaw and I want it flying like new.
AHA...! Trying to spread the heli-disease/addiction to the other family members...Lol..
It's great to have someone to fly with...Good Luck,

cx2cp, Yes, I'm speaking of its yaw. I injoy just spinning my helicopter and it always seems to impress people on how fast it can do it. This cx turns like a roasting pig. It almost seems like the 4-1 is trying to counter act the spin. Its hard for this cx to do 90's. Its so slow I never even worry about any clack.
Michael, Yeah I need a flying buddy, as for right now my cx2 can fly laps around the cx. I'm not sure if he'll be to happy with that.

Eat2Much; Have you reset/recalibrated the 4-in-1?
1) Turn gain open to the max (CW)
2) Tune the proportional till you have no unintended yaw
3) Adjust the gain back (CCW) in baby-steps until you've found the point where it doesn't jitter, but doesn't feel 'dead' either.
Take your time for it, it's worth it; creating a rock solid, whooping CX for an inlaw instead of keeping it
.
Maybe that helps...

Eat2muchrice,
The screeching sound, plus the slow yaw rate. Could be a motor going bad, or a bearing. Especially in your case since it's a used CX. Also check gear mesh isn't to tight and causing binding. Also, spray 'er down with some silcon spray to lube things up.

Choppers is probably right, my old used Cx I got from my dad needed new motors bad.
It took off and flew for 4-5min fine but didnt seem to have much yaw, it did, very little, and it was weak,
so maybe a new battery, and Xtrme motors will help this problem. Oh and my opinion, id like to have
a cx2 that spins quick also and responds well, not a weak turd lol.

Eat2muchrice,
Hate to say this, but "Buyer Beware" on any used helis, or anything for that matter. That may be the reason it was up for sale.
Does everything seem to turn and run smooth? I think we'll be grabbing at straws at this point. You've done alot already. Did you eliminate the screeching noise?

Choppersrule, New motors and bearing+cups with good gear mesh.
Shufflez, it donsn't have a gain pot on it. its an older cx.

i still don't understand the reason for spinning the heli like a dradle (since its christmas), but i've been thinking about it
hmmmm....lower head screws wouldn't make the heli spin (intentional full-rate yaw) at different rates in different directions, would it?
i'm thinking about the tx giving different rates for different stick sides, but how would you test such a thing?
either that, or one motor is somehow stronger or getting more voltage from the 4-in-1

I believe blade-killer was just joking, If I loosen the lower head screws it will cause the helicopter to be unstable and make hard banks.
cx2cp - all the setting are evenly matched. My controller trim and proportional pot are set perfectly in the middle and it has no nose drift. These new motors seem like they are evenly matched. (stock motors from my cx2)
We need to figure out a way to test 4-1's, but how?

HA! after all the work I've done on mine! Now this is for my Brother in-law- not my son. I wouldn't even do that for a son, even if I had one [>:]. I see my old man (dad) eyeing it and tell him to back off.

actually, I wasnt kidding, my CX had an issue with turning and thanks to Kamov it turned out that the lower screws in the lower head were just a tad too tight and were pinching the inner shaft enough to cause the issue.
