Default Ack help! CX2 issues

I had a osculating core last night, this afternoon I swapped out the outer, inner and flybar w/ new blades to boot. I have no more osculation, upper blades are tracking well, but the heli won't stop spinning clockwise no matter how much I tune the proportional. and on top of that I can't lift off more than 3-4 inches.
the gears spin as freely as they ever did (I think) all the rotor mounts are on tight...pls help

how long have you had it for, that maybe a cause for it not lifting off, also check the throttle trim, once I accidentaly moved it all the way down, and was wondering why my heli would barely take off[>:]

A clockwise yaw indicates a problem with the lower rotor outer shaft/gear assembly or motor.

Check to make sure you reinstalled the brass step washer, on the outer shaft, and did so correctly, stepped side toward the bearing.
Make sure the outer shaft lock collar is not too tight on the bearing, use a piece of paper to space it.
Check that the upper screws of the lower head are not in too tightly. They go into the holes in the outer shaft and can rub on the inner shaft if too tight.

Those are the things I would check first.

K I'll disassemble and reassemble in the morn....too tired right now, I did tighten the screws as much as I could so that is probably the issue

only had it for about a week now, and I've never had an issue when using the throttle in the fully down trimming position before (that's what the manual says to do when starting her up I think)

the clockwise spin is now fine but the heli still won't lift off more than 2-3 inches ( I messed around with the gain setting last night could that be it?) or am I overlooking something? please don't tell me the motors could be dead in less than an hour flight time

I had something like this happen when I was doing some maintenance on a CX2. I swapped the motor leads going into the 3-in-1. Mind you, the polarity was corect, so the blades turned the right way, but the plug that was supposed to be on top was on bottom and vice versa. She would spin like mad, I was kind of able to calm the spin, but she still wouldn't fly. Swapped motor leads and all was well again. Just something else for you to try...

I don't remember unplugging them but I will definitely give it a shot =) BTW what does the gain do?

Which one? The Gyro gain or the proportional mix pot?

If you mean the gyro gain, let me try to explain. (rhyme = +2 pts!) The more gyro gain you have, the stronger the force acting on the blades to keep the Heli pointed straight. However, if you have TOO MUCH gain, you will notice your Heli's tail twitching during flight.

My general rule when starting out is to adjust gain as high as it can be set without making the tail wag.

You can make adjustments to the GYRO GAIN (only) when the Heli is powered up. If you want to adjust prop. mix, you will need to unplug the battery before making the adjustment.

cool thanks for that explanation on the gyro gain, the proportional mix I understood =) but neither of those have a noticable effect in altitude right?

Not so. If these are set incorrectly (mostly the prop mix), you will not produce sufficient lift to get far off the ground. This is an extreme example, though.

I would set both your gyro gain and prop mixes to their middle points, adjust prop mix to negate any yaw and then finish with the gyro gain, realizing that you may have to go back and adjut prop mix after any gain adjustment.

Try that and let us know what happens.

What was the cause and remedy for the CW yaw?

Did you check that there is enough play between both lock collars and the bearings?

the height issue was caused by a bad battery, got a 7.4 800 7c generic from the LHS and poof lift....crappy battery grr

gave the lower collar about 1 paper width space, the bronze washer's step is facing up (towards the bearing) the lower rotor head is tight but not overly so (it keeps throwing those hex collars out too, and can't find where to get new ones for the aluminum lower head) no more oscillation on either shaft. the rotation is no longer an issue (god only knows what that was) the heli is in a very stable 1ft hover at 100% throttle but will not go above that unless the canopy is off then it will goto 1.5ft I am at 5K altitude but this is a new development as this was not happening before I bent the flybar (found out both inner and outer were still strait...I'm at wits end any help would be most appreciated

ok it wasn't over-wrenched and it seems it wasn't a bad battery in the process of stipping it down for a rebuild to make sure everything is in right....this is gonna be a long night I can tell

Yep.......Yer addicted......Claiming it's gonna be a long night means loss of sleep... That's the first sign... At least it was for me...Lol... The more you tinker, mod, fix, crash, & fly these things, the better you understand in which helps in being a better pilot whether it's the CX2 or a Trex... Never give up, like I see you seem to never do...Lol..! And keep the postive attitude. "The heli won't fly itself, you have to fly the heli" a famous "Choppersrule saying"... And remember, crashing is a part of learning....

I think after scratching my head with your problem, your doing correct. I would tear it down, and go through your set-up again, taking the knowledge you have, re-assembling the heli and seeing afterwards then if your having the same problem... Use the advice from above, as simply from a screw being to tight, can have a negative effect of your heli...And use the web-sites you have for trouble-shooting/assembly. Hopefully you'll have a cure at the end.

Good luck to ya,

-- Jeff

Trust me,It's in the blades, been there done that. While the blade are on the heli, pinch the end of the top blade between your right fingers and the left blade between your left two finger and twist them so the cup side is going under for 60 seconds.do the bottom blade the same was.Thats what I had to do after tech sipport had me but a new 4 in 1 controller and that wasnt the problem.

Holy F__K surfhead your the man 7 rebuilds over 24hrs and I checked the blades 3 of them had bad form and I didn't balance them at all....after checking for proper pitch and balance she flies (need to tweak the propotional but who cares) ....blades....now I feel stupid....lesson learned I guess =)

Man, don't ever feel stupid for asking a question here... These guys are great in offering help with the CX. And some of us pour over threads like this looking for clues to help our own CX issues.

As for the hex screws for the lower hub, I have no idea where to get them. I lost one and bought a new hub for the screws -- and a spare hub should I ever need one.
