I am replacing the plastic lower rotor head and replacing it with a alum set. I thought by lossening the set screws the shaft would simply pull out.
Can someone direct me to a easy to follow document or give me some advice ??
It would be greatly appreciated !!!!

You have to take the inner shaft out. Then you have to pull the upper bearing cup on the outer shaft off. Then I just take the screws out of the lower rotor head. And pull it off.

Sorry I skipped a step. The lower gear is held on by two screws and a silver colar. Take the screws out then you can pull the bottom gear off. Then the inner shaft comes out.

I might add that when you read the back of the package of the new rotor head carefully. Up to and including the loctite. You MAY need to get some 400 grit sandpaper and smooth down the old screw bites so you can slide the new parts down the shaft. You can mark a little circle around the top of the shaft with a Sharpie indicating the top of the old collar and a verticle hash mark to indicate where the old screw holes are. Good luck!
