Default B400 Gyro Question.

when in flight, if I "hammer" the throttle to gain altitude quickly, the tail of my B400 kicks widly. I thought the Gyro was suppose to stop that from happening, it is there to counter act the main rotor blades Torque. Are my gyro settings off, to low to high? How do i keep my tail boom from kicking out with throtttle increase?

I believe there is a setting in the DX6i called revo mixing that is used to compensate for the additional torque when you add throttle and the lack thereof when you throttle back. There are two settings, one for when you throttle up, and one for when you reduce throttle. Just play with these settings until it stops kicking to the side.

I don't want to sound rude, but your not supposed to use revo with gyro's. It was only for when helicopters didn't have a gyro or tail motor helicopters.

Resident Dawg,
I would recommend to check the belt tension and increase the gain until the tail starts to wag then back it off a little.

My bad, it was my understanding that it was ok to use revo mixing when the gyro was in standard rate mode.

You might be able to, but when I have the choice between standard rate and HH I will always pick HH mode.

I also was under the impression that the 400 would not truly function in HH mode unless you upgrade the rudder servo.

It will still work in HH, but you will get better performance with a better servo. But HH with the stock servo is better than nothing.

Your welcome. If you are having fun with standard rate keep using it. This hobby is meant to have fun so use what ever setup that makes you happy.

For me the 400 stock gyro is not good, I had adjusted the gain just before wagging, everything as expected, when I tried to make a loop the 400 start to spin and should not making this.

I saw some 3D 400 videos in youtube and it holds the tail steady, dont know if they upgraded the gyro to perform this, at least from my side is imposible so far.

About the Revo mixing, be carefull, revo mixing was use only on nongyro systems, so if you use revo mixing with a gyro system it will give a false rudder input to the gyro and you will get an uncontrolled spinning heli.

It will not work in digital mode without an upgrade. Although the stock is supposed to be a digital it won’t accept the digital signal from the stock gyro. Go figure…[sm=bananahead.gif] At least that’s how I understand it but I ant no rocket scientist.

Don't mean to offend any of you guys about the use of Revo mixing but I disagree with part of what you are saying. Revo mixing works very well with rate gyros as I have used the Revo extensively with my own rate gyro and DX6i. Revo mixing works quite well helping hold the tail on hard acceleration and deceleration when using a rate gyro.

However, Revo mixing and some other forms of channel mixing must be disabled or turned to 0% when using an HH gyro. All this is stated in the literature of most gyros, or TX manuals.
