I was looking at it in the AMA magazine. I like the canopy, it was in an add and didn't have much info.

i dont have one, but have been interested in them after several magazine reviews. a few tiny quirks, but thats it. apparently the auto-rotations are performed suprisingly well, compared to other helis the same size. one of the mags stated they were pulling them from aproximately 70 feet up. and that it was just sheer fun heli to fly after doing some minor trim adjustments.

What I like about this heli is what I also liked about the EF Sabre FP (which I purchased)... hobbypeople.net which is the US distributor, always has every replacement part in stock. They also ship quickly. Granted, it's not as convenient as driving down the road and buying parts from your LHS, but hobbypeople is committed to keeping parts in stock and they seem to deliver at that.

Good to hear you are enjoying the helicopter and that you can hover a full battery.

Check out the June 2008 issue of RC HELI - it has a complete review of the Cypher and they give it a good grade.

hey fellas,

i just ordered the Cypher yesterday from Ron Lund on the net. i read the reviews and have read in other forums that she's a sweet flier and an incredable price [i paid $160.00 w/ free shipping, lists for $229.00]. i'm giving up on my Exceed Raptor G2[you all can laugh now].

one of the forums i've read said the manual recomends the Cirus 302bb servos [excluding the tail, think i'll go w/ the logitech 2100t gyro w/ matched servo for that] . is anybody familiar w/ Cirus? i'm fairly new to helis, but haven't heard of them. where can these be bought? i've googled them but find nothing. they have Futaba servos listed to fit, but i don't need or want to pay the price for digital servos. i have hitec hs65mb's i could use but that would mean modifying the frame locations and i do't want to do that. any info would be appreciated.

thanks,

chris

hey, what happened to everybody? did we sell our Cyphers already? haven't "seen" a peep out of anyone since i first posted!

well... i'll take a chance somebody is watching for a post. i got my Cypher a few days ago. i'm in love w/ it already! unfortunately one of the Cirrus 302 servos cooked upon powering up [to set centers]. after the holiday i'll call Hobby People for a replacement. but i'm continuing on w/ the rest of the build and set up. on HeliFreak, Finless Bob has a couple videos on servo install/set-up and head set-up. will be very helpful.

give a shout, all. lets keep this thread goin'!

Hello everyone,

I bought one 2 days ago for $149.00 at the Hobby People sale. I was so excited I spent half of the night putting it together. Thus far with my helicopter skills I have only learned to hover. I own 3 shoguns and I can never seem to keep any of them in proper tune and always fighting tail issues. My plan was to buy the Cypher because it's a 400 class and learn forward flight with it. I do not have the money to throw at a Trex or I would have done it a long time ago. I just couldn't pass the deal up.

First flight confirmed that I bought the right heli. It hovers SMOOOOTH. I have never been used to having firm tail response before in both directions. WOW what a difference from the (Fisher Price) Shogun. I have put a total of eight batteries through it and have landed in tall grass without breaking anything. I have grass stains on my main blades!

The only problem I did have was an issue with the speed controller. It acted like one of the wires on the brushless motor had a break. On startup the motor would studder and not spin. A quick trip to Hobby People and they gladly replaced it for me. So I realy don't have any complaints. I am very pleased with my new heli and look forward to hours of flying fun, who knows I might even finaly learn to fly forward since I have only been hovering around since 2002. It all started with the Smartech Aerohawk, ah yes.

UPDATE!!!

I was flying tonight and was on the 3rd battery. I was practicing turning a right circle and came into a hover. After about 30 seconds the heli made a violent shake and I could hear a buzzing sound. Then it fell like a rock from about 3 feet. I examined the wreckage and one of the tail blade grip screws that hold it to the spindle came out. One of the tail blades departed in flight. I found it and the grip, bearing and screw were still together.

After a complete inspection and some new parts I should be in the air in a few evenings.

Mrashtray.

mrashtray,

sounds like you're enjoying your Cypher. i'm still waiting on the replacement Cirrus servo from HobbyPeople. i've read in other forums something about little problems w/ the tail blade grips/screws. nothing major i guess. can't wait to get mine up. being pretty new to helis [i hate the term "newbie!] i'm going to use the Finless Bob set-up videos that are on HeliFreak. very informative. this is my 2nd heli, the first being a Exceed G2 raptor 400 size elec. not a good beginner experience. so i wanna get this one set-up perfect.

you got a real good price on your Cypher. what are you using for electronics? how was the set-up on it out -of-the-box? did you need to do alot of adjusting? this was a great deal, i thought, especially w/ the ESC and motor. i'm suprised i don't see more talk about this bird. i guess others are trying different main blades like CF's.

time to get ready for work .

later, chris

Chris, when I put the heli together I used my DX7 radio, futaba 401 gyro and 4 Tower Pro servos. I know when I mention Tower Pro servos there will be people that will have comments. Please understand I do not plan to leave them on. It is only temporary. I was suprised about how little setup was needed to make it fly. Can you believe my blade tracking was dead on without any adjustments. I have never had that happen before.

I bought a new tail boom and boom supports. Now she is back in the air again. Since it was dark at 9:30 last night when I flew it I still need to check and adjust my blade tracking today. I put some of the red / white Align 315 pro blades on since they were on sale for 9.99 when I bought the heli.
