Default Blade 400 Optional Battery

Hello All:

I just ordered 11.1v 2200 mAh 30C batteries for the Blade 400. I guess I should have asked this question before I ordered but here goes. The Blade manual states batteries should be between 1800 and 2200 mAh but said nothing about the "C" rating. Is it ok to run the blade 400 with 30C batteries? The ESC is rated at 25C will this cause a problem? Thanks

Busha,

You'll be okay using the 30C battery.. It's over kill, but will give you lot's of horsepower. The "C" rating is determined by how many mAh are required by the motor and servos combined, and only draws the needed mAh to run.. It may only take 15C or less to make everything work properly. Never had a Blade 400, but the logic is the same for all helicopters.

The higher the C rating the better/more expensive. With that battery it can produce 66A. 2.2Ah battery x 30 = 66A. Your stock ESC can only handle 25A and your motor is rated at 32A. So your ESC is a little under rated, but that is beside the point. Even though your battery can produce more current you will only use what the motor can use. Then you pick the ESC and battery based on the motor. Once again just a little extra info.
