Hi, i just bought a blade mCX bnf with the e-flite lp5dsm radio. I thought i would start this thread so anyone who wnats to ask questions, share stories, show off your mCX (modded or no), or just talk about the mCX.
I would love to see people mods and if there are any upgrades to it, i would like to now about them. I only now that e-flite makes glow-in-the-dark parts and in optional paddle flybar and also the MIA upgrades. are there any more?

Ive just been reading a thread on another form about the mCX. Someone said that the 5-in-1 unit on the mCX has a built in gyro that they can adjust via their radio. I'm using the LP5DSM radio. It's 5 channel, and the fifth is a knob on the top. Can that be used to adjust the gyro gain? If it can, how do I do it?

The 5-in-1 does have a gyro... I read the manual and the only "special" feature I saw was that there is a Dual Rate capability.... nothing about being able to trim the gyro.

The CX2 tx does not have dual rates. The tx that comes with the RTF MCX has it ,
you push down on the right stick on tx and it changes it to a different rate.

darn. the servos go all the way either way and its spins pretty fast, so i guess dual rated wouldnt make it more responsive now, just less.

Looks like some pretty stiff competition from Kyosho this Season:
http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/helicop...part_num=20101
Similar size and claim for stability in a single blade heli, not a coax. I could not find a price for the EP Micro Helicopter AD Caliber 120. It should be out now in some places. With Kyosho's claim to quality, this might make many who bought the mCX regret their decision, but I anticipate a very high price - at least double that of the mCX (like the CX2 vx the Quark).

Hi Willow,
$179.00 USA Doallars. Just hit the BUY sign on their site and when it goes to the basket the price is there. Itis also sold out here in California, that must be their distibutorship. I always ask the question PARTS where can you get them and how much.

Hey guys. Always experimenting, that's me. This time I found I was experimenting without planning on it. This a battery story on the mcx. And I will post it on both Mcx threads as well. Why are there 2? Never mind.
Ok, on Saturday I bought 2 Mcx batteries. I had been flying with my Micro-cessna batteries, about 4 minutes each. But every so often I would only get about 1 minute of flight. I was not charting the batteries, so I had no clue what was up. Hence new batteries. The new batteries showed to be charged when I bought them. This caused me some wonderment. A lipo is shipped/stored at 50% charge or 3.7v per cell. It is quite happy there and will store for better than a year that way. I also noted that the MCX batteries had a greater "C" rate it appeared. But I had already done my work with these batteries with the Micro-Cessna, and Horizon was Horizon.
So I threw the first battery charged by my regular charger into the heli(mcx), and tried to lift off. The heli went backwards immediately. Crashing . So I put it on the floor and tried again. The Heli wanted to go straight back. I decided that I must have buggered something, some bit of linkage, so I decided to just fix the problem. No Whining. I notoed which servo arm was in charge of forward flight and the correct direction to adjust it(down). I unhooked the linkage, made a full turn down, and hooked everything back up. I grabbed a Cessna battery and tested it. Nearly perfect and twice the forward speed from before and similar reverse speed.
But I didn't write it up, I wanted to check a couple of things. 1, could I confirm the finding. Was the stock charger using a 2v/1c charge circuit. And was the heli that much better with full 4.2 v? The answer is that yes, the charger only charges to 3.7v, the same as an AeroAce charger. It also seems to charge using the AeroAce 2v/1C system. Charging the little batteries to full strength takes about 40 minutes on both of my chargers(accucel-6 and Triton Jr), but I have yet to do a duration test on the heli.

Willowarune,
Looks pretty cool, however, the thing I hesitate about getting one, is that is has a motor driven tail rotor. Unless, technology has boomed in the last year, and there controller/esc. It would be and ifffy for me. I'd wait for a lot of reviews first.

I came to eat crow. I'm getting 8 minute flights out of the mcx batteries with my better chargers. The Triton Jr seems to be the better bet. The Accusel takes 40 minutes to charge a battery. I'll recheck the stock charger later.

My stock MCX charger charges the batteries to 4.2v. My main lipo charger takes about 25-30 minutes to charge at 3C charge rate, which is the charge rate of the stock charger.

I just bought one of these at my local hobby hop today and I'm impressed. This is the first hobby grade heli that I've ever owned, so the only comparison I can make is to the $35.00 Styrofoam jobby that I tried about a year ago; night and day difference. I have vaulted ceilings in my house and I love that I can simply give the bird a little throttle and it will hover above the ceiling fan with almost no input on my part. The only thing that I want is longer flight time, so I can practice.
I hope there is a battery upgrade out there somewhere.
............and to think, I bought this little helicopter for my wife. I was supposed to be getting it set for her to open on Christmas morning, so she could just start flying. Whatever.....its mine, now. [sm=thumbs_up.gif] I'll just buy her some more jewelry.

Hi,
Does anyone have the position the dip switches are supposed to be in to use the LP5DSM with the Blade mCX? I can get all the channels, but the "rudder" control stays reversed.
Thank you
bob
