My blade mcx is having some electronic issues right now. With any battery state, newly charged or after a few minutes, it doesn't matter, it turns off then on ... with no prompting by me and when it turns off the main motors stay running at the same speed for a second longer????? The light on the front of the 5in1 goes off and there are no reactions to any control on the transmitter, but the blades continue to run at the same rate for about an extra second, then they turn off. Also the servo's self center like when you remove power. When I centered the servo trim then the servo's didn't move when it turned itself off unless I had them under control ie left, right, forward, or reverse. When it turns itself back on, the blades get back up to speed and the servos's go back to the remembered trim.
Anybody have any ideas? I checked the battery connection on both ends and that doesn't seem to be a problem.
Probably unrelated, but when I hold her all the way forward, that servo chatters. I also get chatter all the way left or right too, but not very often.
Really wierd, the on/off... problem just started in the middle of a flight, not after a crash. I'm calling eflight tomorrow to see what they'll do, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I flew one of my MCXs outside and landed in the snow and had an issue similar to yours. I used compressed air to blow out the melted snow and all was better.

Well I did fly it outside 2 days ago and it did land/get blown into the snow too, but I've flown for many hours since then. But hey, maybe it was just waiting for some later time so I wouldn't expect that was it. So yes I'll do the same on mine tomorrow after my wife is up and see if that helps.
Thanks for the thought.
Hey you live nearby, are you going to the Suburban RC Barnstormer's Saturday, March 14, 2009 over night fly in? If my mcx is working, I may go.

Well, the jury is still out, but after I used compressed air to blow out the 5in1 all was better! Unbelieveable! So some crud was somewhere it wasn't supposed to be and was shorting out or something the 5in1 board. I've run 2 batts thru and all is well. That's a lot of somes though. Hope that's just it!
Thanks again 9sec240 for the idea!

Well I guess the 5in1 is shot as my mcx is now turning itself off then on ...repeat continuously no matter what I do. I've called horizon and am awaiting the call-back. [

Mike,
I had a similar problem – check out my video at the link below. I burned a DVD and took it to my LHS who put in a call to HH who replaced the 5n1. While I was waiting for the new 5n1, I scored a second BNF MCX to feed the monkey on my back [
].
Now I can have one on the bench to beat on while keeping the other airworthy.

Dr_Bojangles;
HH called me back and is replacing the 5in1, so I've sent it in. I noticed that when I touched the forward servo gear, that it would chatter a little. I saw/heard in your video that yours did too. I never tried touching or heat to see if it helped, but since the compressor was in the garage it was putting out very cold air this time of year and that seemed to help. So sometimes heat and sometimes cold, well that does sound like a cold solder, probably in the forward servo connections.
I didn't get a second one though so I'm temp grounded. I've been flying the sims I have. The monkeys still killing me. I thought I'd get to fly my 4' foamy airplane on tues since it was 65 here, but 15-25mph winds gounded that too so I'm really upset.
I like the idea of the video and will do that next time.

Well I sent in my mcx on thur and on sat, 2 days later, the replacement arrived from fedex on their dime too. I gotta say HH is the best. The new one flys better, more forward... movement out of the box. I have a shortened flybar that was faster, but less stable so some wouldn't like it. When I put it on the new mcx, it was WAY less stable, barely flyable so I think they have changed something on the base heli. The stock flybar is still rock solid stable, and allows more movement. But I have already crashed because of flybar strikes so I need to do something. I have an extra flybar and will probably shorten it, but less than the first time and be sure the un weighted shortened flybar is balanced and that after adding some of the weight back that it's still in balance.
