Can't take off!

Heya fellas. I fired up the ol' CP yesterday. And with no throttle trim, I only skidded around a little bit. I used to always fly wit trim. But now I'm not so sure about it. Is it necessary to get the bird in the air? I'm happy though, I've had great control over her, until I maxed the throttle, and the trim. Erm, that ended in disaster. I'm gonna give her a pre-flight exam a little later today, and try again. Any tips?

check your pitch linkage rods. What pitch are you at at zero throtlle in normal mode with trim all the way down. should be 0-3 degrees. no more no less. also check pitch angles in idle-up with throttle in mid-position. disconnect tail & main rotors before you do this......report back.

I did all that, before, and after that, it wouldn't take off. Is it possible tail and main motors are reversed?

If this was flying before, how could the wires get reversed? Was this re-assembled and is your battery OK?

I set my throttle trim to half way.

If your main motor was reversed you would not be light on the skids....infact you would be pushing down into the ground

If your tail motor was reversed you would be spinning OUT OF CONTROL. Your tail motor would be additional rotation force WITH your torque instead of against your torque and thus you would be spinning like nothing else.

dis-connect motors and then fire up CP. Move throttle up to the stops. Does the swash plate move up smoothly or is it binding ?????if you blades are not changing pitch with throttle increase that might be your problem !

Jent,

I meant switched the plugs, not the polarity. I'm not THAT stupid, but I'm stupid enough to plug it into the wrong place.

Humm I suppose it is possible. I would expect the main motor to go very slowly if that was the case. And the tail motor to be extreamly fast. Plus the tail would increase in speed a lot faster than the main rotor. The main motor should be pluged into the lower port while the tail should be plugged into the top port.
