SR speed controller on CP
 

I was just thinking and wonder if you could use the ESC from the SR on the CP Pro 2. It has a brushless motor and a brushed tail. Unless they changed the tail motor, which would make it even better.

I believe that the SR uses a different main gear and a much higher KV brushless motor than you'd need. So you'd wind up having to hope you can find a pinion small enough to get your head speed right. Can someone that has an SR confirm the tooth count on the gear?

As far as your pinion not going on the shaft, it may take a little elbow grease to get it started.

Actually, I think mine is a 4100KV and the SR is a 3900 KV.

So that would actually reduce your head speed. Unless you went to a larger pinion. Though honestly 300 rpm should really matter that much.

Edit:

Almost forgot to add. If you already have all the parts to do the upgrade and the only problem is getting the pinion on, you might want to make sure that the motor you bought has the proper shaft size and do the same with hole for the pinion.

If it was a 2mm pinion it won't fit on a 2.3mm shaft. If it's the right sized pinion and shaft it should be tight, but it shouldn't be impossible to get it to go on the motor.

Do you intend to use the sr motor or the park 370? If the sr 2in1 is good for 20 amps or more it will work fine.I was thinking the same thing myself.
Adding the park 370 with external brushless speed control just makes for a complicated bulky setup. My park 370 4100kv w/ 10 tooth pinion, draws 15 amps at 14 degrees pitch full stall.

I've updated mine with the SR 2 in 1 and the 370 brushless motor. Power is realy good, but my motor is getting hot!! I'm also using 25c batteries. I'm going to try some 15c batteries and see if it helps the heat issue. Power is great though. I may install the Park 400 4200kv motor if the 370 keeps getting hot.

Just make sure that you change your pinion gearing with the different size motors. You might be running too fast of a head speed.

I wouldn't recomend the park 400 with the sr 2in1. The park370 is recomended to use the 20 amp speed control. The sr 2in1 is only an 8amp unit. I would not push it too hard. Just my two cents. Can you post some picks of your setup? I have a 2in1 and a Huey body on order should be in next week. B

I understand that esc's are made for brushed or brushless motors and the 2 are not interchangeable.<div>

Ddaddy, You are correct,all the aircraft esc's I have seen are brushed or brushless. We are talking about removeing the stock brushed cp motor and installing a brushless motor with the BladeSR stock brushless 2in1.Just a little coment also I have a Mamba Max car esc and it is programable for brushed and brushless motors. B

The most common brushed motor ESC's only have a two wire lead to the motor. The Brushless utilizes a three wire system to the motor. I"ll post some pick of my setup.

Here is mine with the upgrades. So far its working good. I've gone back to the 15c batteries and the heat issue is much better. I've also got three squares of weight in the nose of the canopy for ballance with this setup.

One thing I also noticed, I had to use the pinion gear off the brushed motor for proper meshing. The one that comes with the brushless motor does not mesh correctly.

I wouldn't do that. THe gear ratio for a brushed motor and brushless motor are going to be different. You can end up destroying your motor.

PS dont swap the gyro and trottle leads. Plugging the main motor into the gyro makes for an angry helicopter(and yes the esc will arm). Please dont ask how I know,excuse me while I change my shorts. B

They are both 10t pinions. The brushed motor pinion has a larger diamiter with wider gears. The brushless motor also comes with a 12t that is about the same diamiter as the brushed 10t. There shouldn't be any ill affects but is needed for proper meshing.

Added some more upgrades. I've got the Neon 6 channel reciever and the 110 gyro in. I'm still getting some tail whip when I try a loop, but normal flight is great.

Why would you want to run 72 mhz? Also the E-Flite gyro's really suck. Futaba or Spartan are really good gyro's. It will make a huge difference in flying.

I've not gone to 2.4 yet. All my stuf is still 72. 2.4 sure fits better though. As soon as I can, I'm going to get a better gyro. I had the 90 in it. I don't think they even make the 90 anymore.

On my 400, I switched to the GY520 and wow, what a difference.

The 520 is a geat gyro, but I don't want to spend that much on this heli!! I've got to pick some batteries up for my 600 soon.
