Kit Bashing with ARF Models - Bucker Jungmeister
I was recently looking at a set of Flyline Models Bucker Jungmann plans and wanted to build the same size of kit. Since these older kits are no longer available unless you find a kit, I went looking for ARF biplanes. I found a similar scale size Cermark Models Ultimate biplane and ordered one. I was really surprised at how close to the Bucker the shape of the wings were. The tail surfaces of course were not very close to shape, but I could modify them easily. Now the mods, I redid the tail surfaces and added wing tips to give a more scale appearance. I don't mind doing the extra work as I plan to use TF cub yellow covering and most of the Ultimate construction will not need to be modified. This is a different way to kit bash, but uses the same principal. I have finished removing original covering and finished with the wing tips and the progress is looking good. This will look great with cub yellow colors. I'm surprised that no model company has made a small built up Bucker park flyer ARF, I guess I get to break ground on this one. Here is finished model. I'll update as time permits.

All of the lightening holes, tail included, were already on the Ultimate ARF model. I only added the lightening holes for the wing tips. The Jungmeister used radial, inline and Lycoming type engines, so Lycoming cowl is scale. I'm not sure if any of the original planes were modified with an enclosed canopy. I think the canopy looks good on it.

Bucker Jungmann Update
I have decided to change the fuselage to resemble the CGM Jungmann by scaling down the full size set of plans and make a new fuse. Also the wings appear to match well, but the tail assembly is a little smaller than the CGM version. I think this will really make the Jungmann look more like it should and not a Ultimate with modified wings and tail. Now that the fuselage is done I can update the photos for this model.
