Default Extra 300L 1/4 scale

Hi

just wanted to show my Extra 300L

It has been sitting quiet for almost a year now, waiting for the New Hacker C50 motor.

finally the motor arrived, and I brought it back to flying status!

this is a pretty big ARF plane, 185cm/73" wingspan and approx6,5kg AUW (6,2-6,5kg)

the power comes from a Hacker C50 14XL Acro, geard 6.7:1 swinging a 20x13 prop to almost 6000rpm. 30x2600HR provides the current.

The Hacker C50XLwith gearbox

developed from a B50XL, but with new case, new laminated magnet and a heavy hudy gearbox to allow big props!

Motor mounted in itŽs mount, eights screws hold this beast in place. 4x M4 transfers the force over to the firewall.

inverted pass.

with this new setup I get flight times of 6,5min, with power left! IŽve only made 2 flights with the new C50, I beleve future flights will be around 8min, which is just as I want it

Something wrong with the WMV movie I think. Stops after 30 seconds and goes back to the start. Maybe it's my setup but don't think so.

Hi Henke,

A 1/4 scale electric conversion....very nice!

That is a sweet power system you have. The mount looks very solid too!

Regards.

Looks Great......Is the 6.5kgs the total flying weight including the batteries?........What was your target airframe weight?

Hi

yeah, 6,5kg includeing the 2kg battery.

I think this plane would need a heavy glow engine to get CG right, I got a 500g motor and 30cells hanging in the nose to get a proper CG I doubt the 5,5kg stated on the box is possible...

any how 5,5kg + 500g fuel = 6kg AUW

IŽve flown it at 6002g, and now it is about 6,5kg, I se no diffrence in performance, still possible to do a 3 point landing.

Interesting stuff.........I have an 82" scratch built Sukhoi with a 46cc pouland chainsaw engine on it that weighs about 7.7kgs and I was going to attempt to lighten the next one to approximately 6.5kgs as well. The motor weighs 2.2kgs with the muffler. Was that engine mount available with the engine or was it purchased separately?.................Hmmm, this hobby always keeps the mind going. Thanks

Yeah, you always find new challanges!

IŽm soon to build a Funtana Pro for the equipment in the Extra. 80" and 4,8Kg :-) then IŽll put on the 24x12 APC E and get 10kg thrust!

thanks

it is a Fun key ARF, or Yellow aircraft. very nice ARF. I was going to say a bit on the heavy side... and sure itŽs not that light, but still you can perform 3 point landings, and all aerobatic manovers.

I decided to build a Funtanta Pro now, but maybe after that IŽll build a scratch Extra, useing the motorcowling and canopy from this one, makeing it a bit lighter and 3D capable for some more fun

Yep, It looks great, but its hard to beat a purpose built electric airframe. What peak current is your power system pulling?

9s4p thunderpower will fly it for 30min or so.... and it will be a pound lighter

will use this motor on 8s4p and a 24x12 prop in a 80" Funtana later on. =)

Hej Hannu!

Next year IŽll hopefully have the equipment in a Funtana... IŽll probably not compete (takes too much time) but IŽll try to pull off some 3D/freestyle demo

same day I asked if I could compete in the rookie class with the Funtana they changed the wing span limit to 190cm lucky day

Hejsan, Henke!

Is there any larger scale models in Sweden except your Extra
going electric in competition level? In Finland we got few of them entering in sport scale class. Where you at Stockholm scale days
this year?
