My Feedback: (25)
I'm pretty new to electric. Am thinking about getting a 60 size P-40 and converting to electric - need some help.
P-40, 60" wingspan, 8.5-9 pound flying weight. Seven servos and has retracts.
so could anyone recommend the proper size electric motor, esc and battery to make this plane fly well. thanks.

At 9lb you probably need at least 100W/lb... so 900W
As a .60 model, a useful "rule of thumb" is watts = cubic inches (0.60) x 2000 = 1200W
For a P-40 I imagine that more is better, so somewhere around 1200W might be a good target (~130W/lb).
To avoid dealing with very high currents, "higher voltage, lower amps" is the way to go... so 6s/55A-8s/40A... is in the ball-park.
Before you go any further you need to decide on prop size... then get a 1200W+ motor of appropriate Kv to spin that prop, on either 6s or 8s.... and end up at 1200W.
If a 13"-14" prop is suitable.....perhaps something like this: http://www.2dogrc.com/product/dualsk...t-1250w-90size
And an 80A ESC... and an 8s pack capable of delivering at least 60A comfortably.

You can use the Eflite power 46 or 60. If you can fit the 60 in if that would give you about 1200 watts. What brand model is the P40. If it's the CMP one the 46 is fine, but the 60 will give you the power to get out of trouble better.
Eflite Power 60
Castle 85HV ESC
Castle 10 amp UBEC
6S 5000 mah or 5800 mah lipo pack
16-10 apc "E" prop
Good luck...
