Hi I'm new here and have a Nexstar mini ep with hte tactic 440 tx and receiver. This tx has no trainer function. Do you think it would be a good move the change to a DX5E and ar500 receiver?I have flown this plane on my real flight and it flys well.Any thoughts on this? thanks joe58

If you plan on sticking with r/c, you would be better served with the 6/7/8 channel tx. That way you can grow into it, as you planes become more sophisticated. Like flaps, retracts, bomb drops, etc. 5 channel is going to limit your options, and eventually you'll end up needing another tx. It sounds like it will cost you more in the beginning, but you'll end up saving in the long run.
If not you can pick up a used DX5 pretty cheap.
Best of luck to you.

I belive in the "old way" of learning to fly. Have someone teach you on a buddy box. So, you'll need to make sure the TX you buy has that function and your trainer can connect the two units. I don't think the manufactures have standardized on the format so that you can interchange Futaba, Spektrum, JR, Aitrronics, etc.
