Default Martin PBM Mariner from Model Airplane News

Hi everyone,

I just saw a beautiful plane being presented in the latest Model Airplane News magazine (november issue). The [link=http://www.modelairplanenews.com/plan/fsp1103a.asp]Martin PBM Mariner[/link] seaplane looks like an interesting plane to fly electric, what do you think?

Here are the specs: 78in span, 75 length, originally with 2x.52 4-stroke. (see link for details)

I would like to use the new outrunner motors. Any suggestions about a possible setup?

Regards,
-Fabrizio

I saw that article. He used blue foam to make the airplane and sanded it to the shape he wanted. Cross-section method.

If you go electric I would suggest using AXI brushless motors. They will produce the thrust you are looking for. The wall thickness of the model could be made thinner due to the weight saved on the wings. Along with a few other weight savings tricks.
I finished the Building with foam Book and used my PBM for the cover.

It is now available through www.parkflyerplastics.com for $16.95 plus shipping.

There are several things you can get away with by going electric. Thinner walls, hollow wings, lighter spar. It's all in the book.
