Default Receivers for E-flight

Just curious to find out which receivers you all thought were good. I have a GWS 4 ch but am looking to go to a 6 ch. Any thoughts on GWS or any others? Thanks.

Hi,

GWS Rx normally have shorter range. Why not consider Hitec Super Slim (8ch), Electron (6ch) or Micro 555 (5ch)?
The feedback on these Rx are positive most of the time. I myself use the Super Slim. By the way, these are all light-weight dual conversion Rx & their effective range are around 1mile.

My buddy tried the Berg with his frequency synthesis Tx and found it does not work. Because of that I have stayed away from the Berg while the GWS works just fine.

I also prefer the Berg. Mine has been rock solid.

If your friend would have read the instructions with the Berg, he would have read that it wouldn't work..wouldn't work with a Hitec module in a Futaba TX. It works with the Hitec module in a Hitec TX, but not a Futaba module in a Futaba TX. This is strange, but it's in the instructions...

I am ready to build my first E-plane (fly glow and gas soon) and was wondering about the berg receiver, is this dual conversion? I am building a 3DX with brushless LiPo setup and wonder if this receiver would work good? Is dual conversion a necessity if flying around others or outside? Thanks for any feedback. I use the Hitec Electron 6 in a Funtana and it is great, thought about just taking one of those out of the case and heak shrinking it? But if a cheaper one could be comparable, I would be interested

A properly designed single-conversion receiver is just as good, if not better, than any dual-conversion receiver out there. The Berg is a well-designed single-conversion receiver.

What are your objectives and what you flying?

Indoor? Outdoor?

Small field? Large Field?

Parkflyers? e-gliders? High speed ? Low speed?

GWS 4 channel has range of about 300-500 feet. The 6 channel is 1000 feet. Hitec Super slim 8, Electron 6 and Micro 555 all have ranges in excess of 1 mile.

If range matters, almost anything has more range than what you are using now.
