Try a simulator that you can download to your computer. A free one that doesnt take a lot of space is FMS.

You really can't learn to fly by reading a book. The only way to learn is by doing. That's where the simulator comes in handy.
At one time, I believe Sig published a paper on the basics of model aviation. I have it somewhere. Maybe it's on their website, www.sigmfg.com. It's pretty dated, though.
