Default 2 cents on the E-Starter

Hey,

When i was trying to get into this hobby i had a lot of trouble trying to find the best plane to start out on. I had a little time flying a friends GWS Cub (awsome plane for the 100% newbie) and i wanted to get a plane of my own that had a few upgrades from the elevator/rudder Cub (ailerons, faster etc).

When I was searching, I went through a lot of trouble trying to decide what plane I should get. I havent flown any of the other planes that people have suggested (sky scooter, aerobird, slow stick, and a few more) but the E-Starter is awesome. If you have just a little experience and you want to try ailerons this is definately the plane to get. I was able to land well on my first pass, and even looped it during the first battery pack. Then plane was responsive and had enough power that if i started bombing, i could floor it and pull up before i drove it into the ground (or the various soccer goals around the field i fly at). It was easy to see and I could tell its position and attitude even at a good distance. It was great...

So basically what I am trying to say here is, if you dont know what plane to get for a beginner/intermediate level, this plane is the one.

Just my two cents,
Thatcher

I agree, the E-starter and Tigermoth really helped me figure this whole not crashing thing out

Agreed. The E-Starter may not be the greatest first plane for the self-starting R/C pilot, but it makes a darned nice second plane.

How well is the roll rate on it?

i havent tried that yet.... i've only flown it twice so far. I have looped it a few times pretty well. its definately durable, I took a nice hit in a tree today and it just popped a strut off on one end (easy glue job) and i was back in the air with only one strut with no problems. Not even a dent in the foam.

Roll rate isnt that great because of the dihedral, and high wing. Thats not to say the ailerons dont respond well, but if your going to do barrel rolls you better have some altitude. The Estarter will roll, loop, and fly inverted but it works best as an aileron trainer in my opinion
