Get a better plane....... Firebirds are designed for nothing more than what you get with the origianl kit.

RCkip- Thanks for your help on my battery question. Perhaps you didn't actually read the question. I don't have any problems with the plane or it's performance, it does exactly what it's suppose to do. I was just wondering if there were other options with the battery. I have other planes, my question however was about this one in particular.

They make a more powerful battery for the firebird.
8.4V 900 mAh NiMH Battery: Fighterbird, Aerobird
[HBZ1013]
Retail Price: $29.99

I was thinking of investing in one these..

Hey Brunswick! If you are having trouble with Firebird battery packs, let Hobby Zone know about it. I did and they took good care of me.
PS: I'll probably be in Brunswick next week, visiting, in a 35 foot Infinity Motor Home, with AMA stickers in the front windows. I'm debating on taking any electric powered aircraft with me.
What do you suggest, and where do you fly them?

I have the bigger battery for the firebird. Don't like it at all, The extra weight is very noticeable on my Commander, yes I adjusted the CG it just feels like the plane doesn't like the weight(my opinion, not worth any more then you paid for it) I might throw it in my slow stick and see how it does. I think it's more fun to fly with the standard battery and Aerobird tail. I just fly in a small park at the end of my street. There are a lot of open fields and great places to fly in Medina county though. I wouldn't think you'd have much trouble finding a spot to your liking. I've knocked on doors before, there are a lot of people with a lot of acres that don't mind you flying-they like the free entertainment.

I have a Zagi Fixx that is what I fly most often, I also have a Slow stick-- We have a small park at the end of my street where I can take my kids to play and fly so it's kinda nice. Two of my neighbors also have Firebird planes so we sometimes get out the three and tear up the park with them.

Brunswick, I only stayed one day in Brunswick, and visit with brother took the time. (It was also windy)
I put the 7-cell pack in my Firebird XL, and noticed no difference in CG, performance, or speed. It was like the thrust increase was offset by the weight increase

Yea we've had a lot of wind lately, had my Commander blow away on me....Good thing I had my phone number on it. Lady said it just landed in her yard three blocks down, lucky me. I had the seven cell pack in the other day and it did seem to fly fine maybe it was just having a "touchy" day that day. Anybody else folding a lot of wings? I finally figured out a decent wy to fix them but not before I went through about three wings.

Default RE: Firebird Battery

Which Firebird do you have?

The Firebird, Firebird II and Firebird Outlaw take different packs from the rest of the hobby-zone birds.

AEAJR, good to see you on this "new" site. I was on a vacation to northern Ohio when it started.
Why the different battery packs for the different Firebird Models? Is it the mAh or the cells, or the plug on the end of the wire that determines?
