God day,
I have a Jeti JES 70-3P Opto speed controller, I have used it for quite some time with my 2 electric conversions (Sig Rascal 40 and World Models Tai Ji 40 - Jeti Phasor 45, 70-3P Opto, 16 cell GP 3300 & 11/7 electric prop) with no problems. Though I time my flights and try to land with power, I have never really worried about taking the packs down too low (voltage-wise). Now that I have purchased 2 Thunder Power 3S2P (4200) packs to run in series (same motor setup as above, measured 1,206 Watts, 56.4 Amps with a 12/6 electric prop in an initial bench test today - WOW!), I am a little worried about needing a speed controller with a cutoff built in.
Tower Hobboes says the gold label controllers do in fact have a cutoff, though they do not specify exactly how it is handled (auto detection of the number of cells is all they say). My local guru said I'd be OK with the 70-3P as far as handling the 6S LiPo's (2 x 3S2P in series) voltage without burning out but could not give me a solid answer on this question. Does anyone KNOW that the Jeti "gold" speed controllers, specifically the 70-3P Opto has a low voltage cutoff built in? If so, what voltage would it use as the cutoff point? Should I not risk it and buy a new controller?
I appreciate any help as I am tempted to buy an advanced controller at this point for insurance (I don't want to run the LiPo's down beyond their safe voltage and risk ruining them). I am absolutely drooling to fly the Tai Ji at nearly twice the output (measured via input Watts, hard to directly measure output) and 18 Oz. LESS weight than what I am used to...
Thank you in advance,
Jack

I have a Jeti Gold 30 amp that has a cutoff. I believe the cutoff is 5 volts.
Castle Creations esc's are about the best and the cutoff and other parameters can be programmed.
