This won't answer your questions, but I have looked at the kit(ARF) at the hobbyshop and opened the box. It looks like a very nice airplane. High quality, very light and durable. There is some footage of one flying if you click on the picture of it on the first page of this website and go down you will see it.

I don't know the size of your Zagi packs, but 8 RC1300 (CP1300) do fit very well.
Use a Model Motors AXI 2814/12 and a 10x5 prop, and this model becomes a fantastic package.

I guess you might call it a normal in-line pack with two sticks of four cells side by side.
The pack is then a little shorter than a "normal" 6 cell RC car pack.
