Default Electric Trainer for First Time Flier

Hey All,

I am just getting ready to make the switch from 1/2A C/L planes into R/C. I want to start with electric.

I am looking for suggestions on a good plane, radio system, etc to start with.

I want to get a radio system that will grow with me. I think I am looking at ARF type planes, and will probally want to stay away from the complete park flyer types unless there is a good reason to start that way.

I appreciate any and all suggestions.

THANKS

-Peter

Here is my recommendation:

Plane: JKAerotech T-52 or Garrison Aerodrome Push-e-Cat
Both very durable but the Push-e-Cat is a little more money and more crash resistant.

Radio: Hitec Flash 5XG or if you have the money Hitec Ecliplse 7
Both good quality computer radios.

Charger: anything that will charge 1-24 cells from a DC source.

Feel free to Email me for more advice.

First ask yourself. What are my skill levels both piloting & building. Don't Exclude the park flyers, some of th SR kits are Great, I would seek out one of the local clubs flying areas and see "What"s UP".. Pick a few brains...But What ever way you go Remember those with the larger wing area ( cub vs. F16) usually are flown a lot better with a novice at the stick, And If building BUILD IT LIGHT..

My ol Stand-By for someone wanting to teach themselves to fly R/C is the SoarStar, It looks the same as the Wingo or Popy but don't let the looks fool you it is a wonderful flying airplane. the Kit comes with a Speed control, Battery , charger , airframe , Motor,Prop and gear box for around $130.00, The best part is it dosen't require a small reciever, standerds work fine, you will need to use two small servos but not the Sub Micro type. This plane will do loops, rolls, Touch and goes , Thermal glide and even a little inverted. it is slow and easy to control as well. It can also be flown just about anywhere, I even flew mine indoors.

Heres a few links to more info...

I recommend the Fledgling. It's a nice flying plane at half throttle but speeds up good with 3/4. Full is only used during a 15 ft rollout on takeoff. I bought it for my son to fly because i was worried about his ADD and minor gross/fine motor skill problem. It's worked out great. He wants to go glow now!

I started flying last year and went through several planes...

By FAR, the best plane I have bought and the easiest/fun to fly is the E-Flight Apprentice.
I also bought the Futaba 8FG transmitter. Love'm both!!
