Thanks all for the input. It did come out at about 18 oz. I got a great planes 400speed motor with the 3/1 gearbox and a 10X7 prop. put in lots of down thrust and some right thrust. Also got the GP speed control with brake and on/off switch. A buddy threw in a nice 1100 NMH 9.6v battery. I can get 10 minute flights in still air, no thermals yet. Easy enough for my 7 year old to fly once up to altitude. I did go for the feather reciever, although it could carry a heavier unit without any noticable loss, I think.
All in all a pretty good successs story, relaxing to fly in the back yard, no fueling, no runway, no cleanup.
Im not giving up my Ziroli Stuka any time soon, but Its a success story for me!
