Need opinions on the best, most stable electric plane with ailerons so my friend's father can learn to fly on it. Would think that at least 36" to 48" wingspan would be appropriate.

at 56in. the PT electric (great planes) is realy smooth, I make one of my friend buy one to learn fly and its fly like a charm

Although it doesn't have ailerons, I would recommend the GWS Slow Stick.

A SIG LT-25 kit can be converted with no changes and is a great trainer. It can be powered with a number of setups ranging from an Astro 25G on 16 cells to a MaxCim brushless sytem on 14 - 18 cells. I'd even be comfortable with an Astro 15G on 14 cells in it, but be sure to adjust the timing.

If you like to build go to Foamfly.com. They have an airplane called the Frog you make from foam in about 4-5 hours. Very good to fly. Then build the Xbow for a nice fast plane.

J.K. Aerotech has a couple trainers called the T-52 and the Big T.
Both have good flight and build reviews are quite crash resistant and are easy to put together. They will fly with inexpensive motor/gearbox combos.
