Default Need some help Sizing a Motor

Guys, I have not much experience with electrics so any help will be greatly appreciated. I am offering some 1/2A kits and today went to my first swap meet. Sales went great but if I had an electric version I could have sold 3 times as many. I want to offer an electric version but am lost on the comparisons of gas to electric. Here are the specs: My little plane flies great with micro radio and a Tee Dee .010 through Pee Wee .020. What is the electric equivalent to these size engines and what pack recommendations.

Thanks,

BobHH

Default Motor sizing

You need to get software to help you size motors to planes. I use electricalc which is available lots of places for abour $40 Maxcim motors has it. Motocalc is good also and you can download it free for 30 days. Just type in Motocalc in your search. Either will teach you more than you wanted to know about electrics. It is very complex to size a motor, gearbox, cell type, cell size, cell count, diameter , pitch and type of prop and this software has all the answers! It will give you stall speed, climb rate, top speed, wing loading, and run time.

Hey Bob, talk to Greg Gimlick. He flys out at SWAMPS and also writes for SE Modeler. He has been in electric flight for years. Email address is: [email protected]
