Ok guys I need help
I just finished putting together my Hobbico skypilot with the Great Planes C12 ESC, (the ESC which Tower says to use) and I can't seem to get it to work
it's plugged into the correct channel (channel 3 on my reciever), I follow the set-up directions which are that I
1)Turn on transmitter, remove prop
2)set throttle to zero
3)plug battery into ESC
-now at this point the motor is supposed to beep two times (whatever that means) but nothing happens, the blue LED on the ESC is on and the other two channels operate fine (Elev. and Rudder) so I don't think it's a Tx issue, the planes battery is freshly charged.
next I'm supposed to advance the throttle to full, the motor is supposed to beep 5 times, then I'm supposed to retard the throttle and the ESC is supposed to be set, I can play with the throttle all I want, but it does absolutely nothing.
any ideas what I'm doing wrong? the motor uses a great planes electrifly connector, so I can plug the battery in directly, the motor works fine, so it's not like it's defective, and I've used the appropriate connectors from the ESC to the battery and from the ESC to the motor (both GP electrifly style) so I'm at a loss,
do I have a defective ESC? any ideas? am I doing something terrible wrong?
HELP!!!

I don't know enough about the radio to say if the end points are adjustable. If the servos are working normally try plugging the ESC into the elevator channel. Plug in the battery and pull the stick down to full up elevator and see if the ESC arms. If not unplug, replug and move the stick to the full down elevator position. This will tell you if it is the Tx channel or not. If that fails I would suspect the ESC. Tough to analyze these type of problems by mail

Thank you Gary, that's actually very helpful
I take it that if I can arm it with the elevator channel my radio is defective then?
It's the Futaba Skysport 4YF

Thanks Gary, problem solved, it was actually a defective switch that came with the radio, I discovered it when I switched to the elevator channel then back to the throttle channel without the switch.

Let the ESC power the radio and don't use any switches. When ready to fly plug in the battery. After you land unplug the battery. I fly electric Helis and Planes and there are no switches on them.
