We sell it at our online shop. A few weeks ago we set one up and flew it. It flew great and was a pleasure to watch! Only real complaint was its rolling ability on grass, though the grass was a little long.

Chris,
I've read of others having problems with the retracts being slimsy and breaking on even good landings? How have yours held up?

They did not do great landing in the grass, bending a little. It came in came in hot and gripped the grass and nosed over. No other damage though. This was minor trouble for us, but I have heard the same thing. Also, there have been some vibration issues with the Hyperion Motor Set. We has some, but mostly eliminated after balancing the spinner.

Well i see on their spec-sheet they recommend balancing the alum.spinner & backplate, Plus re-inforce the firewall & motor mounts for vibration issues, SO is it a .25 glow or a 350 watt bird? OR NEITHER?........... Looks cool in the air Mikel-T

Yes balancing the spinner/prop virtually eliminated the vibration. Others have gone with a different motor and that seemed to eliminate the vibration as well, like the Hacker or AXI. They say you can use a .25 Glow, but I am not a Glow pilot or shop, so I won't recommend it. Some guy on RC Groups was going to try it, but I never saw a flight report. We flew it with the 10x7e APC prop which, according to specs, will push about 330 watts. With the 10x10E, you should be able to get 440 watts out of the stock motor, according to the motor specs. It flew really well on the 10x7, so I can't imagine the performance we would get out of the 10x10. One problem, though. The battery was really warm when it came down. We plan to modify to add more ventilation to keep the battery cooler.

There been several reports on other forums that there is a problem with the landing gear linkages breaking. You haven't reported a problem yet but since you are a distrubuter, what is Hyperion doing about bad design or bad hardware?

While I don't have specifics, Nippon Dave recently resurfaced on RC Groups and I actually asked about the retracts. He said everything is constantly being improved, including the retracts, but again, he did not get specific. He also said the push rods (for the new kits) have been changed to steel. Apparently the next warbird, the Hayate was too far along to get many of the changes, but the Spitfire that will be released in October I believe, will have improvements and a battery hatch. Don't know much more than that. Hyperion's voice until very recently has been quiet on these matters. Unfortunately he (Nippon Dave) is going on a vacation for a few weeks, so we probably won't get much more information any time soon. They should release pics of the Hayate in a few weeks. It should be release in September. Though it does not have the hatch, he developed a modified hatch and will also release details of that for those who would like to add one themselves.
