Default Will it fly? Advice Needed!

Okay, I'm new to electrics, and quite frankly confused... not that it's hard to do that!

Here's what I have laying around that I want to screw together and fly:

- 1/6th scale (3.2m) ASW-17, 901 sq in wing (E-387 airfoil). The total lifing area is 1033 sq in with airfoiled horizontal stab.

- Graupner Speed 700 Turbo direct drive & folding prop spinner

- Astro 215D ESC w/BEC

- Weight of all the above, ready to fly but without motor battery , is exactly 82 oz.

The question... will the 700 lift the ASW-17 to a decent altitude, or is it going to lumber around at 10 or 15 feet until the battery runs down? Or worse?

If the answer is... "Yes, it will fly", what prop and battery pack do I buy? If I follow Graupner's recommendations, we're talking 8 cells, and a 10x6 prop.

I know, I know... there are far better combinations out there, but I simply want to know if this particular combination is viable. I'm not after rocket-like performance, just a decent launch altitude. The idea here is to avoid investing any more money than would be necessary for the battery and prop blades.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Without the battery, the ASW17 will fly as high and as far as you can throw it.

Unlike an engine, which puts out the same amount of power no matter what size fuel tank you use, a motor can put out widely varying amounts of power based on the size of the battery. The battery should be the first thing you choose in the power system, and the motor should be the last.

Just a gut feeling here, but I really don't think the motor you've chosen will be adequate on 8 cells.
