RE: electric to glow
As I understand it the 15-25 size specification is actually the equivalent glow engine size for the plane. Electric specifications (I'm not real knowledgeable here) would usually be in watts, I think, or KV or some other electric rating. One thing to consider in evaluating a plane that is built for either a glow or electric engine is how the plane is built.l Electrics are usually fairly light for the size, and may not have some of the strength features of glow planes, like doublers on the fuselage sides perhaps or size and number of cross braces. Also, of course, there is the issue of fuel resistance. An area I was told by mys instructor to look at carefully is control surface edges and hinges-are they sealed/covered? If the plane uses tape instead of hinges that is likely to fail if it gets fuel on it. What about the pushrods that come with the ARF? I don't know the answers here and assume that planes which claim to be for either glow or electric would answer these questions (and perhaps others I don't know about)...but if I were looking at such a conversion I'd sure want to know.
