Default esc bec?

well i have a nitro planes catalina, and the one of the esc's went out, so i went and bought another 25a esc, now im wondering if i hook them up the same way the stock esc was hooked up if it will put too much power into my reciever. should i cut the red wire on one of the esc's or just hook it up like it was before?

You don't need two BECs powering the receiver. Get a short servo extension and cut the red wire on that one, then you can still use the ESC in another plane in the future.

Actually I don't think it would cause any harm if you had both hooked up. They both put out 5V, but you would have twice the amps for the servos if you needed it. I would not cut the wire.

It depends on the regulator/BEC used in the ESC. For example, Castle Creations claims you can connect their ESC BECs together for added current capacity. Other manufacturers may have a different BEC design, and you may overheat them or smoke them. Personally, if I don't have info from the manufacturer saying I can connect two of them together w/o damaging them, I would take the safer route and disconnect one of them.
