MEASURING THRUST
I want to measure the voltage, current and thrust being produced by various combinations of motor prop geaerbox etc.
I can measure the voltage and current easliy enough but I would appreciate ideas, or references to sites, which shows the different ways of constructing a device to measure the thrust. Your help would be appreciated WW |
RE: MEASURING THRUST
A simple spring scale, attached to the tail of the airplane, is typically what you'd see used to measure thrust.
Be careful in your assumptions about the importance of thrust. Your plane could have a 4:1 thrust to weight ratio, and still not fly. More likely, you'll prop your plane for a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio and discover that it's a slow dog in the air; it simply won't go as fast as you want it to. |

Here's a link to a long complex thread which does include instructions and pictures for several types of thrust stand
http://www.radiocontrolzone.com/foru...hreadid=116059 I've attached some photos of my system - referred to in this link above. Cheers, Phil |
RE: MEASURING THRUST
Get a stick, mount it vertical in a baseplate, strap the drive (or plane) to the stick, set it on a scale and weigh it. Power it up and the difference is the thrust.
