Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Hello All;
I recently bought a Hanger 9 Pulse XT 40 size. I have an AXI 2826/10 with a Jeti 40 plus ESC and plan to use a TP4200 3S2P with an APC 13x10. I think it should work fine. 2 questions for anyone with experience with this plane. 1) think the AXI set up will be enough power and 2) how did you reenforce the landing gear area? Thanks in advance. Nick, Wellington, Florida |
RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Nick...
Seeing as nobody else has answered your question, I will give it a shot... I have a Pulse with an AXi 4120/14 and use a 4S1P Kokam 3200 pack My set-up is capable of 700 Watts... It will leap off the ground (no wind ) in about 30' or so, with a 13 X 8E (thinking about trying a 13 X 6.5E to get some more r.p.m. ) What sort of power is your set-up capable of? This airplane will fly quite well on less power than I have...but I have a feeling that your set-up should be capable of close to the same power level as mine? Welcome to RCU |
RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Hello Proptop: thanks for the reply. I agree the combo should provide good power. The problem is the CG. The motor and battery combo fall short about 7 ozs which caused the model to be tail heavy. I've looked at the 4120 AXI and a 4S2P TP - will likely use this combo in the plane. The 2826 is now installed in a Graupner Kadett. Tks again.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Hi proptop what kind of flight time do you get with that set up? I am setting up with the e46 cc60 and the ubec, as for batteries I have not orderd any yet. hz said to use th5300 5sp .
I do have 4, th4200 3sp pack that I use on other planes, all with e25 engines, I would like to use them but I am not sure about how much time in the air I would have? any thoughts thanks bill. RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
I'll follow this thread closely because I've got a Pulse XT ready to go except for the power system. I'm very familiar with the plane, but I need to do some more reserrch into the electrics. i want as much power as I can cram in there.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
I did have the Pulse with the Himax 50 in it. I use the Makita Li-ion batts in a 6s1p config. Worked very well but I wanted something a little more aerobatic. Flies much like the old Trainermaster. Does the generic aerobatics very well but the semisymetrical airfoil limits it. but that's just my own take on it. Didn't have to beef up the landing gear as I had no trouble with it.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
I agree on the landing gear i run a 46. nitro on mine and had a few ruff landings. Still the Pluse landing gear has held out great. No need to touch it. :D

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Doc:
The Li-ion pack slides into the batt. hatch hole. If I remember I had to take a shaving off the flange where the hatch sits on when closed. This is a 3 ah batt. and gives about ten mins. of run time. As you say it's a slippery plane and flies at half throttle most of the time. The li-ions can be fast charged and take about 40 to 45 mins to charge on the FMA Balance Pro. Safety factor over lipos is much higher. You don't need a fireproof box and all that paraphanalia to charge them with. These don't catch fire if you look at them sideways.:D Much cheaper than lipos too. They are a little heavier and physically slightly bigger but the benefits much outweigh the detriments. By the way, these are 10, 1500 MA cells in a 2 P configuration, so I make up 3 cell packs for the foamies. Was flying combat with Reno Racer 3 WEEKS ago. Had a midair and the batt. departed out into the boonies. Was found today. Charged it up and flew it. You wouldn't do that with a lipo. Gord. |
RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
yep I know what you meen I have been looking at common sense rc they have two that look good just not sure about the wieght factor and I think they will both fit. the 18.5v 4000 pack and the 14.8v 6000 pack take a look and let me know what you think I have been flying th packs the 4200 and I like them but the 5300 pack seems to be to big and the th packs are getting to be too high for me any way let me know what you think thanks bill

Would 2100 5s2p or 4s2p A123 packs fit in a Pulse Xt 40?
I think this is two possible pack configurations 4 x 2 x1 66 x 4 264mm lenght 26 x 2 52mm wide 26 x2 52mm height 70 x8 560g 2 x4 x2 pack 66 x 2 136mm length 26 x2 52mm wide 26 x2 52mm height 70 x8 560g |
RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
not sure bob the size may not let me get a good cg on the plane .I am going to go with the 18.5v 4000 pack if it does not work I will try the 14.8v 6000 pack.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Could someone send me the dimensions of the battery compartment?
Thanks-you. |
RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
My Li-ion batt. measures 114mm long, 70 wide and 40 thick with the velcro that holds it in and it's a snug fit. Close as I can get for the compartment is 130 long but there's a small half former to brace the undercarriage that's 100 mm back from the firewall. My batt just slips under it. 80 mm wide and 50mm deep. Hope this helps.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Looks like it is going to be a tight fit. 136mm x 52mm x 52mm this based on bare cells. I am sure what finished packs would be.
How heavy is your pack? A123 would be 560-570gs ORIGINAL: Flypaper 2 My Li-ion batt. measures 114mm long, 70 wide and 40 thick with the velcro that holds it in and it's a snug fit. RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
All:
I've been flying the XT for several months with the following power system: eFlite power 46, CC 85 amp esc, TP4200 4s brick pack, 12x8 APC eprop. Flight time - crusing 11 minutes w/power to spare - aggressive flight 8 minutes w/power for a 2nd pass if necessary. Charging with a TP2010 puts back approx 3300mah. This plane is a dream to fly. |
RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
thanks efly I will be flying the cc/60amp with the ubec, the motor will be the e46 and I went with the evo20 5sp 5300 mah battery ,I think I will be getting around 12 min flight time I will be trying the 12x8 prop first, I also have a 13x6 I may try. I will be putting her together this weekend .I plan to try her out next week sometime . thanks for the reply bill

thanks I will do that my wieght may be a bit high but I think with the 18.5 v it should pull it well will see. looks like I should come in around 6.25 lbs total wieght from what I can see at this point.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
I just won a ebay bid on a Dewalt 36v packs plus a used 4 cell pack on the way so I am fixed for A123 if I can make them fit. I will check a friend glwo version to see if the A123 will fit before I buy the arf.

RE: Hanger 9 Pulse XT
Does anyone know the maximum speed of the Pulse before the wings tear off?I just bought one and powering it with a nitro O.s .55.
