Comparable Motor System
Hello,
I have just aquired a vintage Leisure Electronics American Eaglet kit. I built one many years ago when the choice power system was the then available Leisure geared 05 motor and 7 cell 800 mah NiCad battery. I know that this is a dinosaur by todays standards. I would like to power this new model with a modern brushless/LiPo set up. I need some suggestions from more experienced modelers as to what would be comparable to the older power system. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you. Steve Z |
RE: Comparable Motor System
You don't want comparable. That would be a true let-down.
What you want is "adequate" even "excessive" power. Can you provide some specs on the plane? Maybe some pics? How's the room in the cowl area? Is it tight or do you think maybe an outrunner will fit? |
RE: Comparable Motor System
Here are the specs on the plane.
Span-64 inches Weight- 41 0z Wing Loading-10.4 0z per sq ft Wing Area-571 sq in Bear in mind that the weight was probably calculated with the heavy primitive setup and then available mini servos. Also, a separate Rx battery was required and a servo for "on/off" operation. I would guess that by today's standards, the plane would weigh no more than 35 oz. I believe an outrunner would work under the cowl. I would like some input as to either style, inrunner or outrunner. The selected electric prop would be an 11 x 7. Thank you! Steve Z |
