RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
Has anyone tried setting the motor/gearbox so that the propeller is on the body streight? I have one, I just wondered how it would fly that way instead of the way it comes.
Seams like it would fly better if it pulled streight ahead.

Doc, yes it improves control and speed, but it increases the chance of folding a wing. I did that on my last motor change. The improvement was marked. However you would need to beef up your le with some cf, say0.040. You will also encounter a bit of a clearence problem with the engine cover. I have put mine back to normal for now.

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
Doc, this how I reinforced both the le and the tailfeathers.
I also encountered a "servo failure" tonight. I think this is case of dry plastic on dry plastic. It needs some form of lubrication. Any thoughts? The motor is fine, I moved it an 1/8" and spun it both directions, the problem seems to be with the worm gear pick up. My initial thought is to use sil-glide, an aoutomotive grease that is safe for most everything, but plastic is not something I have used it on before. It's a high heat silicone in a vaseline like carrier. I'm told that wd-40 and t-fal have ingredient that will eat the plastic.

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
FYI: My one week old PZ Cessna 210 performs and flys well, but I get one or two radio reception glitches on each flight. The problem is NOT range-related, and I've flown at three sites, so I doubt it's cell interference. In each case the motor quits and the Cessna glides straight and steady until control is regained. I don't see any relation to fuselage orientation, transmitter orientation, AA/Li-Po battery status or altitude. Again, RANGE IS NOT A FACTOR! I've contacted Horizon Hobby. So far, I've retained enough control to land with no damage. My last fix will be to try "re-binding."
Be aware, and, any of you have experience with solving this problem?

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
The radio system is a weak part of this model. I've struggled with it since I got the plane. Yesterday I gave up, and ordered a Futaba 6EX 2.4GHz Tx/Rx, and another model. I got a U-Can-Do EPP. I liked the way the guy bends it in half in the video demo!
I think it's more of a flying sponge, than an airplane.

Tx/Rx:

I gave up on RC when I was 17, when I had radio problems with my airplane. I gave up again when I was 27 and had radio problems with my Baja buggy. I gave up when I was 37, too, due to radio problems with my Draganfly. Now I'm 46. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
This might look good for me too. How is this a trainer if all the other parts move to make it 3D? Maybe you can get me hook into this. Do you set it for trainer or is it always 3D in setup but you only use the trainer ruder and elevator parts. Wonder if it will fly in 100 by 100feet??? I would use my DX7 radio and I think I would need to buy a receiver for the plane. Maybe you can tell me how its a trainer than a 3D. Sounds Great!

Akron, you might want to check out servocity.com, I think you might get a better deal. I think the u-can-do is an intermediate plane. I'm on a low wing trainer build right now. If you can find a epp cub, cessna or beaver you might be happier. And if you have room a slowstick is a easy slow flier. Oh another favorite of mine is the gws pico stick f(fokker), but I took mine brushless.
Ron, I fly my bigger planes on a hitec flash 5 and have a laser 6 as a back up. I am now using hitec radios and servos. At this time for brushed esc's I really like the electrifly c series.
Tim
Akron, you can cancel orders easily at Tower.

Hey Tim
I have several planes but don't fly them as I don't have the nerve. You guys gave me nerve so I flew the Cessna 210 Thank YOU GUYS! The Firebird Phantom sits as well as Slo-stick, Pico Stik, Yak 55 and my Slow -V. I fly the CX2 Heli, I hover a CP Pro, and fly my ACES! I keep an I open for a good starter flyers for small areas. I now running a JR 400 SPORT RADIO AND A DX7 FOR HELI'S. Thought I might have luck with that U-Can-Do EPP. Maybe Tim is thinkin' I can fly that pico stik now????

Ron try out the pico stick. The fokker is it's fuse version. Which motor is on the pico stick? And what size lipo? That little guy should be good for a little league ballpark or schoolyard. I should have pic's of the funny tonight. It is getting ready to pour here so probably no flying today.

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
I flew it again last night I can't believe how well this little turkey flys. My 2 cats set on the deck and wait till it lands and runover to see what it is.
They think it is bird.
I wonder what the next plane Kyosho/parkzone will introduce with this system. I hope more Civil aircraft. maybe they will change the servo gears. I think that the rest of the system is OK.

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
I got my replacement plane today and maidened it. This thing flies like my first plane, but doesn't want to spit out the battery. I did the obligatory laps and the sent it downrange. It still has some range issues, probably 60' shorter than a poor aeroace, a hundred + feet short of an average ace. That is where the comparison ends. It appears that my second cessna is just a dog. I took the plane after the range test and shook it out. I took it to around 80' up and coorkscrewed it down hard and fast and then slowly, I took it up and did tail turns. I stalled it, I looped it many times. I tried an outside loop and wimped out at 3/4s and flew inverted for a bit. Until I realized I was headed towards a know glitch area. The plane took everything I threw at it and never faltered. That was an exceptional maiden. Good job on the part of PZ.

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
I don't see that on the Kyosho website. Is that a mod?
If that's Kyosho's next model in their Minum series, I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a 4 channel.
No, my next plane will be using a Futaba 6EX. I just figured how to link it to the Rx last night. Took me awhile to figure out "push button on Rx, wait for green light". So I couldn't find the instructions?!?!?

TR, if you pop out the bit that is stuck in the prop, you can use the old gearbox. I resisted this for a while, but once I did it i was sold. That's how my second one is set up. And yes the customer service can be a pain. I did get my replacement and so far so good.
The citabria looks interesting, the strust could be helpful in a fast roll.

I tried that put the remaining shaft is too short. I'd have to shave some foam off the cowl. I bought some 1mm music wire today on the suspicion I may be able to replace the shaft. Anyone know the full length of the original or whether the gear can be removed without breaking it?

TR, I'm going to say 35mm from my measuring of a prop and broken spur. Given that some of my fast stops have moved the gear and the bushings and stops without damaging them.
I'll be going out to wear out some batteries in the new cessna.

Got really lucky at eBay!!!!!!!!!!!
Found one Park Zone (a.k.a., Kyosho) Cessna 210 RTF that said it had a bad receiver and trailing edge of Left wing had a taped repair...
I bought it for $60.50 including shipping (Shipping was $12.50)......and would you all know that I connected the battery pack and all control surfaces and motor worked!!!!!!!!!![X(]
Took it out in front of my house and flew for a couple of seconds rather well........ Landed in a young Oak tree at the sidewalk and all I needed was a step stool and it was in my hands again![8D]
The only thing that does not work is the charger station - base. I will be taking apart the charger base station to see what might be wrong....bad LED or loose connector etc....etc......
Heck even if the receiver did not work....the 2.4Giga Hertz Transmitter is $55.99 retail....so, I am very ahead!!!!!
Here's a couple of pic's of my prize Cessna 210 micro RC Model.
